I was fumbling around on TW last night and came across the okuma Scott Martin TCS rods.

These are technique specific rods at least that's what they are labeled as.

What I saw was there 7' jig rod was MH/MF.... actually all there MH were MF action.

Now I know not all powers and tapers are standard across the board and maybe okumas MF is more like a fast but just from first looking at it I don't think I've heard of a dedicated jig rod having a MF action.

Whats y'alls thoughts on this

I use mod- fast for my jig rods. It helps get a good hookset in that i can put all my force into it without ripping the bait out of its mouth. And also helps me keep him pinned during the fight

Interesting I have always used a mhf I don't know if I would want a moderate fast for jigs? Nonetheless I have always had my eye on those tcs rods.

I use mod-fast for my x-heavy conditions.  I want the full rod to load immediately during the hook set, so I can "lift & separate" the bass from cover.  Don't mistake "mod-fast" for whippy or slow.  generally, most rods designed for this (the TCS included, as I have a couple) fall into this category.

Here's a review of the Mat Daddy:

Posted this in another thread which I can't find at the moment, but I've always preferred a more moderate action for jigs (fast action for plastics though). I was definitely in the minority in that thread. Here's Matt Allen on the subject:

I'd been looking for a new / longer jig rod a while back.

So during the ST Croix Rage Rod Bargain room sale I picked up the 7'6" MHMF ~

Perfect for jigs, Pitching & Lite Flippin.

Love putting a big bend in it - especially with braid.

As long as the rod has enough power, the MF action should be fine. I actually prefer MF action rods over F or XF, helps me feel like I am getting full use out of the rod.
