LEWITH Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Hey guys im going to start making jigs but have never done it. Few questions.. Where is the best place to buy lead ingots? What price point should I be looking for lead per lb? Also best place to buy skirts? Thanks in advance, The LEW Quote
cadman Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Constant good lead you can buy from Roto-Metals and skirts from fishingskirts.com 3 Quote
cabled70 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Amazon or Amazon Prime is another good spot for lead. Just make sure it's pure (or as close to 100%) lead. Otherwise you end up with an alloy (usually - I've found - a lead/aluminum mix) and inconsistent weights. Also, a lead pot that has to be cleared of the material and start over with the purest lead you can find. And another great source for skirt material is livingrubber.com. I buy from fishingskirts.com all the time too. Both great suppliers. Quote
Robert Riley Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Also looking to tie my own. I know of boss and fishingskirts, anywhere else? Quote
Karma Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 honestly I get a lot of my supplies from ebay, depending on what types of jigs you want to make. There are guys who will sell, for example screw locks for the do-it shaky head molds, 500 for $26, same with wire keepers. Most retailers want $10 per 100. I also buy a lot of skirting material from there. Deals are out there. Quote

Great website to order molds from as well. They will give you a chart of different hooks that will work for most molds. Quote
kcdinkerz Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 if you dont feel like pouring your own you can always go the lazy route and buy some painted or unpainted jig heads and add your own skirt to them. Quote
