I am looking to add, when appropriate, punching to my arsenal next year.  I have looked around alot and there are many different skirts available for punching.  Many with reviews saying the hub breaks a lot - is more a faulty product or just a part of punching.  I mean pitching a 1.5oz weight around for hours could certainly take its toll on a setup.

Any skirts you have found work or stay together better than others.

Thanks.

I make my own using the plastic Boss punch hubs, and then I slip that in to the collar of a Z-man "EZ" skirt.

"Skinny Bear Round Rubber Punch Skirts"

I use 'black blue' but would be comfortable with any dark color

I use skinny Bear, dirty jigs, and gambler. Dirty jigs seem to be the toughest. Gamblers are inconsistent, IV had some that last all day of catching fish, and some that fall apart after 1 fish. I seem to use gambler more, more so because I have a lot more of them and that's usually just what I grab. I also have punch hubs and wire tie my own sometimes.

You might want to check out the Strike King Slither Rig - they're pricey but the skirt and tungsten weight come together in one piece so one less "moving part" to worry about.

I just ordered a couple wire tied skirts from @Siebert Outdoors. Nothing I have ordered from him has disappointed me, it's pretty much the only place I order anything that uses a skirt now.

I make most of my own using silicone from Skirts Plus but I am starting to think the Gambler "starflash" Skirts which have the color of silicone and the feel and action of living rubber.

I also like to use some of the thinner silicone for finesse jigs for some smaller options or punch skirts I add to swimbaits and skirts to jigs

Does the material make a difference? I have been hearing about the Starflash Gambler skirts the last few years since Gambler is huge in the South, never really felt it mattered for Punching, but when cold, I kind of like how it moves, is unique and when fishing slow I think it can matter....I think color probably matters most, but Living rubber when letting your bait soak gives me confidence and the Starflash material has nice color compared to the old school rubber which had dull colors yet still is favored by some guys.

When you make your own they get expensive with shipping, Siebert has prices with the terminal tackle you need for a similar price & you can make hubs out of anything. Just look at a Boss Hub and get creative. quick Hint...The rubber "Grommets on many punch skirts are also found in Tatoo Guns, get 100 on Ebay for a few bucks. Metal hubs are only $37 for 100 on Barlows I believe or .50 on Skirts plus...If you want the tungsten bead hubs, or brass etc..Hagens has those, or ALi express has tons of beads in tungsten you can tie to.

Hope that helps. Punch skirts over the counter are way to expensive. They cost less than a buck and some sites sell 5 for $2 if you look, the rubber hub is fine actually.

I really like the Gambler Quick change skirt--I am happy with their durability and really like how you can remove or add them whenever needed

Interesting...

Thanks
