gall Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 So I'm looking for a new multi purpose finesse spinning rod for shallow skinny water smallmouth and was looking at the ex6 I like the 6'8-6'10 but obviously one is drop shot other regular spinning so my question is which one would you choose and does the mag m power helpful or gimmick Quote
PatrickKnight Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I personally wouldn't go with a drop shot rod for an all purpose rod. Quote

I have no advice on the ex6 series but I have a mag-medium loomis shakey head rod that I use when I wade for river smallmouth. It's a great all around rod for that purpose. It has a soft tip that shuts off quickly with good backbone. It's great for smaller jigs and tubes and is GREAT for throwing smaller cranks in shallow snaggy river bottoms. Quote
Hulkster Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I have the SJR842 in GL3 and it is an awesome all purpose rod for lures/tubes etc. up to 3/8 oz. The same rod is also offered in E6X and there is also a slightly heavier SJR843 in E6X for up to 5/8oz lures. both would be excellent all purpose spinning rods. Personally, I like to fish on the lighter end of things so I would get the SJR842 E6X. I have an E6X MBR baitcasting rod and really like it. The E6X rods are great blanks Quote
