Bubbling spinnerbaits

Years ago short arm spinnerbaits like the Bass Buster  Scorpion were popular . One thing these lures could do was bubble over the top of the water , making a gurgling sound and leaving a trail of bubbles . But the speed had to be perfect and it was difficult for me to accomplish this on the entire cast .  Is there a spinnerbait that excels with this retrieve ?

I find im able to do this sort of retrieve on a quad blade spinnerbait a lot more than a single or double bladed one.

Waking spinnerbaits requires a certain retrieval rate while helping control depth with your rod tip. At the end of the cast hold your rod tip high & as it gets closer start lowering your rod tip.

 

With practice ya should be able to wake any spinnerbait!

  I liked a Manns classic, with the larger gold indiana blade and smaller colorado, I can bubble, and bulge, or wake that bait better than any others I've tried. I see Catts got the technique down.

 One tip is to have the reel engaged and be reeling just before the lure hits the water, So the slack in your line is already taken up. It's now easier to keep the bait UP, and just under the surface,... from the beginning of the retrieve. This also provides a quicker reaction from you as to what speed you need to keep reeling at for "proper" waking, bubbling, and buldging.

  I kinda miss fishing that way, hope the opportunity arises this year.

Waking a spinnerbait is not what I'm referring too . When the blade breaks the surface and is still rotating , it makes a noise similar to a buzzbait almost like a boat propeller cavitating . It gurgles and leaves a trail of bubbles .  I have spinnerbaits that do this , we all do . Its difficult to keep it at that delicate balance for a long time . Wondering if there is one that  excels at it ?

  It leaves a trail of bubbles if the ph is good, I do know the difference between bubbling and buldging,...Its a fine line there tho,... one breaks the surface and the other is JUST under it but not breaking it, making a "wake", or "buldge" on the waters surface.

 I was a huge spinnerbait fan in the 80's and 90's,..anything from a 1/8 oz beetle spin, or 1/8 stanley mini's.... to 1 1/2 oz Hogstickers, there wasnt many I havent fished, the old harts were nice, picasso's too. Flecks? they were ok and had some technique specific baits. strike kings, terminators? eh,...ok, Rocky ledge is a really nice spinnerbait,.. And the list goes on, but, I ended up with stanley wedge bladed vibrashafts, and Manns classics, being my favorites. And as I stated above, the manns will bubble

Terminator hybrid blades did exactly that and were briefly popular, discontinued now.

 

You still had to crank them pretty fast but they were more stable than a regular spinnerbait once you break the surface.

If you shorten the arm and put on a smallish blade, it will do what you are asking, it takes constant adjustment of speed and rod angle, and I haven't found it catches any better than other retrieves. YMMV.

I Googled Gurgling spinnerbait and found this . I"m going to copy it as close as I can , maybe use a Banana head mold .

Well , the link doesnt work . The bait is called the Pomme special  . A short armed bait like the Bass buster Scorpion .

 

Just noticed this on the package  "Worlds best buzzin bait " The reaper rigged horizontally  supplies lift .
