CrustyMono Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I am looking into getting a fish finder. I have a 14' Jon boat that I am converting into a bass boat. I will commonly fish from that, a smaller jon boat or a kayak. I also bank fish in ponds a lot. I am looking to invest in a portable fish finder. I like the idea of a mobile one, because I can use it in ponds too. I am looking at the base model Deeper and the iBobber Pulse. Open to suggestions too. Also what accessories do I need, I have an old Ugly Stik combo that I can cast it out with. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted January 9, 2017 Super User Posted January 9, 2017 With that type sonar, how well can you see your mobile device in bright sunlight since that would be your display? Quote

I have an iPhone 5s right now and a few iPads at my disposal. I also have a portable charger Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 9, 2017 Super User Posted January 9, 2017 Portable sonar units have become scarce, but for small craft and rental boats (e.g. Canada), a nice portable unit is the "Eagle Fish Mark 320" Roger 2 Quote

I mostly use it for when I'm fishing out of a canoe, or ice fishing. It performs as expected, shows depth, cover, fish, the basics. Don't get it if you're looking for a really nice set up, but it works nicely for a portable finder. 1 Quote
