craww Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Stopped by the store to buy a rifle scope and ran across these. The looks arent anything to get excited about, but good gracious do they balance and feel crisp in hand..On a rack with Avids, IMXs, low riders, etc, the 3 models I looked at seemed to transmit vibration when rubbing the cork of another rod with the tip better than anything else on the rack. It's hard to describe but the blank just feels good. Toray graphite, K frame guides with Sics, not sure what to make of the ad copy about shape shifting under load but marked down to 130 bucks I think the 7' Med spinning Rod is calling my name. I like the little hood and full grip on a spinning rod, its comfortable for shakeyhead fishing..Anyone have any experience with these? Not much info out there and I think they may be getting discontinued. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted January 7, 2017 Super User Posted January 7, 2017 Those rods are ridiculously well balanced. I wasnt paying 200$ for one but i will get one on sale. 1 Quote

craww Posted January 14, 2017 Author Posted January 14, 2017 Update. Picked up the 6' 10" Med pwr spinning rod and fished it for about 45 mins today. Fish didn't cooperate and half the pond had ice on it. I can report the rod is very, VERY sensitive for $130. On one particular lay down that I know and drag a bait through often, each branch was very sharp and distinct when the bait made contact. With the little hood above the reel seat and full grip the rod is very comfortable. Our local store has about half a dozen models, they are marked 150 but ring up 130 like online.. I may grab the 7'3" casting model for jigs. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted January 14, 2017 Super User Posted January 14, 2017 Killer deal for $130! I've not fished them but have checked them out. Very nice rods. Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 I would assume they are similar to the Tatulas. Like the Arachnid reel is a Tatula reel but with blue accents, which I kind of like lol. I just bought a Tatula 7'4" Frog Rod, haven't fished it yet but I am very impressed with the workmanship, the looks and the feel of this light rod. Craww since you held the arachnid, how did it feel as far as weight? The Tatula rod is 4.0oz and feels just as light as a BPS Carbonlite. Edit: Correction, I just got a good look at the rod, and it looks nothing like the Tatula. The wording to describe it is different, and the Tatula rods don't have K Frame guides or SiC inserts. BUT the blank itself after zooming in on it looks to be unsanded just like the Tatula. So if Dawia is making this rod, they are using higher end components on it than their Tatula series. Quote
