Well it's time to get back to sucking at fantasy fishing. Team is set, fingers are crossed (it never helps don't know why I still do it).

A.  Faircloth:  .8 ownership is insane.  This is one of the best smallmouth fisherman hands down.  Dude just clicks with brown fish

B.  Feider:  Can he repeat his success?  Pretty good year so far.

C.  JPow:  Great hx with smallies and is on the upswing from rough year.

D.  Card:  Versatile with good hx with smallies but last time here found some nice largemouth.

E.  Zaldain:  Deal of the bucket.  Zaldain is excellent with smallies and is the safest bet in the most volatile bucket.

I'm set on A (very risky pick) D, and C but can't decide on B or E.  Going back and forth between Seth Felder and mike iaconnelli, and Skylar Hamilton and Chris zaldian.

B. Feider

C. Jpow

D. JVD

E. Pipkens

As you can tell, I went with the big smallmouth guys. I'm hoping this pays off. I'm trying to crack into the top 90th percentile. Currently sitting at 89.7%.

Have you guys ever had a team in mind, and then you went and found out they were all in A and B? And then you were like what the heck will I do with C, D, and E?

Well, I went on fantasy last night and literally picked the team I had in mind in about 5 seconds...

I'll list my picks on Thursday, but my choices went pretty fast as well.  Even though the river is very high and appears different than in previous years, I used history for the past two events to guide my selections.  The problem with that strategy is it leaves guys like Ehrler, Lefebre & Hartman out when it wouldn't be surprising for any of them to win it.

I've never had a team that I felt better about...haven't changed a thing since 6 weeks ago! Hopefully they perform as well as my expectations haha.

A - Mark Davis (a 6th & 20th in the last 2 visits here)

B - Josh Bertrand, (11th & 8th)

C - Aaron Martens, (13th & 5th)

D - Bernie Schultz, (15th & 6th)

E - Chris Zaldain, (17th & 16th)

As I wrote, I am going with history here.  The high water might throw a wrench into that strategy...

A: Jack net

B: Lefebre

C: J-Pow

D: Lucas

E: Morganthaler

C & E are the only 2 I worry about. J-Pow bombs every time I pick him.

wait, the weighin is over...

My boys:

Brandon Palaniuk: 72nd (didn't see that coming haha!)

Seth Feider: 2nd

Alton Jones: 19th

Jonathan VanDam: 14th

Chad Pipkens: 37th

The weights are stacked, and I'm confident that Palaniuk can rebound from a poor day one (even though he had 15 pounds). My other guys are doing great.

3 inside the cut. I expressed my concern earlier J-Pow and Morganthaler worry me. J-Pow has a chance tomorrow, Morganthaler not so much.

Gotta love auto correct.... I have Hackney not Jack net.

A-Jay: KVD did tear it up! Shame on me for not picking a fellow Michigander on a northern Lake.  A little interesting tid-bit

I've heard several people in the fishing scene around this area say KVD's brother Randy (JVD's dad)  is or was a better bass fisherman than KVD but took the safer route and stuck with his outdoor sports store. Could you imagine 3 VanDam's on the water at once?

I was shocked to see that the 50 cut yesterday was Jacob Wheeler with no less than eighteen pounds. This is one heck of a slugfest. Guys that were in 60th and 70th place yesterday could easily jump quite a few places with a couple of footballs.

Not a bad 1st day and would have been better if Kennedy caught a few more big ones.

Are they taking a break today on Live? It doesn't say on the main page, just wondering, trying to plan my lunch so I can watch a little bit of it.

It starts again at 11:30 et.

Kicking myself for swapping Seth Felder out for iaconnelli the night before the tournament.

Palaniuk has over 19 pounds today already. Currently sitting in 13th.

He and JVD are good friends; when they're on smallmouth and doing well they push each other and are highly competitive. It's no surprise to see them neck to neck in the top 15.
