reerok Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 I bit on Scroggins too. My A and B selections were brutal. But with Hackney, Shryock, and Prince in C, D, and E I'm still happy with the result. Quote
MSWV Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Im gonna quit with the research & start picking my favorites! hehe.... Im in the 39th percentile.. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted February 27, 2017 Super User Posted February 27, 2017 I jumped from 8 to 43 percent .The first time I selected my favorites the second time I got lucky . I didnt study, just picked 4 Alabama and 1 Louisiana boy . Horton was the only angler I picked for both events . 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 Lake Conore is next and its only 20,000 acres . I dont recall a lake that small being chose for a BASS event . Quote
reerok Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Agreed - it's on the small side. But thankfully it's only the limited field of the Classic and not the 110ish boats of a regular elite event. It will still fish small I imagine. 2 Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 Every single youtube video I've watched of people fishing conroe, they're fishing the same bridge. It's a bridge that reminds me of the one that Howell won the 2014 Classic on. That spot is going to be hit so hard haha. Quote

Sounds like it might be like an MLF event where they're fishing on top of each other and cutting off guys who are making their way down the bank. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 I'm guessing its going to be post spawn . Do I stack my team with shallow power fishermen , deepwater gurus , flippers , crankers ? I've already picked and its stacked with one . I may change as the event nears . Quote

Isn't Conroe realitively shallow? 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 20 foot average depth, I read . Looks like its loaded with points . Post spawn and points is a good combo . 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 The entire south end below that bridge is very populated and is full of docks. Those could be a be factor too. 1 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Bucket D is rough, none of them have very good records in Texas. Quote
SWVABass Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Might be a mix of post spawn and spawners. My brother lives 20 mins from the lake and said they haven't seen a lot of fish on beds there yet. But some are being caught sight fishing. I guess in places there is really good grass too Agree bucket D is rough, I don't know who I want to stick in that spot yet. 2 Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted March 2, 2017 Super User Posted March 2, 2017 I would imagine the spawn will be either in full swing or just dying by the time they get there. It should prove to be an interesting tournament, but I know there are lots of big bass in the lake so we should definitely see some 8+ class fish cross the scales. Quote
BCline Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Well I guess someone has to be last in this group. I plan on making a comeback at the Classic! 2 Quote

IndianaFinesse Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Anyone else having trouble with D and E? I don't feel like anyone in those buckets are going to do well. However my picks turn out, I'm excited to see who wins the Classic. Quote

Definitely hard to choose. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted March 22, 2017 Super User Posted March 22, 2017 Last year I never released my picks because I was consistently within a close margin of winning the year but this year so far all I've done is suck. So here are my picks. I throw everything out about dark horses for the Classic. The field is so small I don't like to take risks. A. Combs We've seen the Classic won by locals the last two years; Combs is another Casey Ashley or Edwin Evers. Bassmaster calls his relationship with Conroe a "love affair" and it's an accurate description. He's won two Toyota Texas Bass Classics here against the best of the best. I can't go against him here. B. Iaconelli I have a love/hate relationship with Ike for fantasy fishing - I picked him in 2015 for the Classic and he did terribly. But he is a Classic competitor in that he's hungry for another win and he knows how to win the classic, to swing for the fences and get it done. He puts in an incredible amount of research and homework for each classic. He's done extremely well on Conroe before and finished second to Combs in one of the TTBCs. C. Ott Defoe The man is on a roll and he has an extremely consisten record of high placing finishes in the Classic. D. Jason Williamson I didn't like this bucket; but Jason has been doing very well for the first couple Elite events and I forsee a good tournament for him. E. Wesley Strader. FLW hammer; a lot better than the E bucket would suggest. Best of luck fellas! 2 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Senkolover, that looks a lot like my picks except for in C. Is anyone getting tons of emails about the giveaway for the correct classic winner guess? Quote

CTBassin860 Posted March 24, 2017 Author Posted March 24, 2017 My A and E brackets are different.I went with Tharp and Wiggins Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 24, 2017 Super User Posted March 24, 2017 I have 1 angler who has the lowest percentage picked in his bracket , another second lowest, one second highest and two the highest . Quote
MSWV Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 A. "Money" Combs - Ive planned to pick him for months. B. Skeet - Always shows up for the classic & I dont think anything different will happen in this one.. C. Ott Defoe - Momentum & Confidence! This man can catch fish anywhere! D. Brent Ehrler - Had a tough time in this one but I seem to always feel safe with Ehrler.. E. Jesse Wiggins - I have a feeling this guy is for real! Won two Bassmaster Opens last year.. Has no girlfriend, therefore 100% of his time, thoughts, & effort is in this tournament! I feel great about my picks but will prob feel lousy this evening...hehe 2 Quote
