True, but you can't win with the same team everyone else has.

Yeah, although the own % being high for 1 angler in each group doesn't mean that all the people who picked tharp also picked the other 4 highest.  I'd like to see the percentage of people who picked the highest owned angler in each bucket. I bet that is a whole lot lower (although still probably the highest percentage among unique teams).

All I know with certainty is that I definitely can't win with a team that doesn't get the most points.

True.  The top five point receivers are who they are no matter who picks them.  Highly unlikely the top five point scorers will be the most owned anglers in each bucket though..

If you look at the way that points are awarded in Fantasy Fishing rules, you are awarded the same number of points no matter how many other people have picked a particular angler.

HOWEVER, (my personal take),

If everyone is picking a certain guy, I stay clear of them for the most part. Take Tharp, for instance. Obviously the man for the job on Okeechobee. Knows the lake as well as anyone does and has multiple wins on it. He has a knack for understanding the fish at Okeechobee, even under tough conditions. Loves to flip and pitch. Has a fantastic track record on Florida bodies of water. I easily foresee him getting a top ten. But, he's at like 50+ % ownership, which means that there are a crapload of people who have picked him. What this means for me, who picked a dark horse in bucket A that I feel will do fairly well, is that if Tharp were to stumble and not make the top 50 cut or something - there are thousands of people in Bucket A that will drop heavily and that I can all pass up. For an individual tournament, it doesn't seem like a big deal, but if you're consistently playing by that method throughout the year, crap will go down and tournament favorites will zero. That's when I personally have made big strides in standings. Yes, I probably will end up regretting that I didn't go with Tharp, but at the same time, you have to set yourself apart from the crowd in Fantasy Fishing.

That's what makes it so fun for me, I love finding the dark horses that do well and slip under the radar.

Not I. I agree, he seems like an easy "instant" pick, but there's just TOO much good stuff going on in A Bracket to ignore. Hope I don't regret not picking him, but I'm extremely confident in at least 4 of the others in there... maybe more.

I'm struggling with all of my picks, I just don't know about any of them.  And I may have gone insane, but I'm not picking Randall Tharp.  If he was in any other bucket I would though.

I  bet your team out performed mine .  I came in dead last and wasnt even close to the next guy .This was my first time in fantasy fishing . I'm changing strategy . I selected  5 southern boys for Okeechobee  .

I don't know what to do about Tharp either. Every time I picked him last year he bombed. I wanted to pick him last we, but didn't want him to bomb. If I pick him he'll bomb in I don't pick him he'll probably win the whole thing!

I did it. I found anglers in every single bucket that are owned under 15% that have great track records in Florida and I'm confident will do well. Took me a while of doing research to find the guys but I'm excited about this one.

I'm going to we extremely well in this one, or I could just as easily bomb it.  Picking a lot of risky guys, the highest picked guy on my team only has about 12%.

Dumb question but where do I find the ownership %? I saw it a couple years ago but that's it.
