I had a quick question  maybe someone can answer phone. If I was going to Texas rig a worm for example a trick worm  would you use a medium light like a finesse setup or a  medium heavy something that you would throw a jig on.

The weight of the lure will help you decide.  So if I am throwing a weightless worm, floating worm, Senco either weightless or with say a 1/4 ounce pegged worm weight, a grub on a light jig head etc I am going to use a 6'6" to 7 foot light to medium fast action spinning rod.  If I am throwing a 3/8 ounce to 1 ounce worm weight and a 6,7,or even a big 9 to 10 inch worm then my 6'8 mh extra fast action or my 7' foot mh fast action rod would be my weapon of choice.  Also this does not change if I am texas rigging or carolina rigging. My choice of rods would be the same

big jump between ML and MH.

i only use ML rods for finesse stuff like dropshot and ned rig. ML is not ideal for hook sets on t-rigged plastic IMO

Depends on how you rig it, and the diameter/style of hook you're using. I have a 7'3" MH Duckett White Ice and a 7'6" MH Duckett Micro Magic that I toss Texas rigs on. I use the shorter rod for short range pitching, and the longer for distance.

I throw an unweighed trick worm on a medium heavy extra fast!

For light texas rigged plastics I use a m/f  or a ml/f rod,  I want enough bend to be able to cast worms the distance.  I am using lightwire hooks so they penetrate a little better than the heavy hooks, But I do bend them out if I get snagged or set the hook on a branch.  If I go up in weight or I switch to a flipping hook I will move to a MH or a Heavy rod.

My ML/F rod casts nedrigs, open jig heads,  texas rigged trick, worms slider heads,  as well as shakey heads without issues.

I don't fish really light finess stuff so a ML is out of the question for me. It's MH /F for most of my T rig stuff. I have used a Medium / Moderate on some smaller stuff and some sinko fishing where I used a lighter wire hook.

My worm and jig rod are the same thing .

Same here. Both are 7' MH/F Abu Vedettas.

Are you tx rigging it with or without weight?

How much weight are you using?

I use a mh for trick worms and 1/8oz tungsten.

Anywhere from a 1/8oz to 1/2 weight

With those kind of weights added on I'd definitely go MH, ML I'd only do if it was weightless and a light wire hook.

Ya cannot play with big bass, set the hook, & turn her head at the same time!

I am with Catt & Raul on this. If I am Texas rigging I want a solid hook set so I am using a M/H or Heavy action rod.

If I'm fishing the plastics weightless, I use my ML spinning rod. If I've g a weight on them, I'm using my M or MH baitcasting set up, depending on what else I want to be fishing at that time. For example, if I want to throw a jig and a Texas rig, I'd probably fish the jig on the MH and throw the Texas rig on the M.

I use a 7' Mh/f Fenwick Techna AV rod. It's rated up 1 1/2 0z.

I've used it for punching with a 2oz weight and weightless senkos also..doesn't matter. I want thier head up and in the boat, I don't want to play with 'em.

I agree on the ml  missed a couple of big hogs last summer on long cast  didn't get good enough hook set. although I was using an older lizard that wasn't the sfoftest   #5 hook barely penetrated bait   a stiffer rod would have definatly benifeted   hate loosing the good ones    I guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching  good luck this year  tight lines lonnie

Depends on weight of the lure and the cover I'm fishing. I use a variety of rods depending on those 2 variables.

A ML rod using 1/8 or 1/4oz weight, thin hook and not too much plastic to punch through should be perfectly fine in open water.

for 1/2oz plus plastic, I wouldn't use the ML even in open water. even a Med power with that much weight would not feel right to me. The Med would be perfectly capable though.
