I like them so I might go as high as $75 for NIB

60-70 dollars, they are an awesome reel for crankbaits.  They are little on the big side to palm easily, at least for my smaller hands, but that doesn't matter for crankbaits, swimbaits, spinnerbaits, etc. And casting is great with them, they are almost impossible to backlash.

Well, used ones normally go for between $75 and $100 depending on condition in the Flea Market.  In my opinion, they would be worth $100 new to me, but keep in mind you can by good quality new reels like the Tatula CT for that same $100.  You can also find like new Curado I's for between $110 and $125 if you look patiently enough.

You mean tree fiddy?  haha didn't think I'd see that here of all places.

Back to the post,  I would agree with bluebasser except I didn't like mine that much.. but $75 would be a good deal if they are NIB.

More than I would pay for them

I liked the E series the best, then the D. I hated the B and G.......I have not been back to Shimano since the G's

I'd pay 60-80.  I'd rather pay for a used I series for a few bucks more. Don't get me wrong they are still good solid reels, but like another poster they are harder to palm.

$0.00 for me and wouldn't take if given.  I had at least 4-5 of them for many years, no need to return to the past.  Good reels for somebody else though.

If they are the Curado CU-200 series those reels are bullet proof. I say $75 to $100.

75-100 seems crazy, as others have stated they are old. Palming is terrible, sure they dont break down really, but they are nowhere near the performance of the newer reels. You would be much better off spending whatever amount they are asking for a newer reel, something like the tatula ct or curado i. Again as others have said, i wouldnt take them if given to me.

It's all personal preference. I can palm a 200b no problem and it's really comfortable. I'd take a 200b over a 200I any day. My super tuned greenies are invaluable to me.

Some people prefer classic cars to new, value all depends on the person buying it :)

You guys are really missing out on a great reel.  My bantam cu-200 (the green one) is my favorite cranking reel, even though it's a little larger than some of the newer models.  It's casting and smooth retrieve more than makes up for it.

Steelheaders in my area will drop a hundred bucks for them no questions IF they are left hand retrieve.  I sold my last one to a buddy for 75 bucks.  They are tanks.

Best reel ever made.

One of them. I've tried to part with mine many times and can never bring myself to do it. I think they were some of the most durable reels produced. I have never needed a parts replacement after 15 years of using mine, and some of mine have seen a lot of use. I still employ one on a flipping rod and there is no other reel I feel more apt to the job.

So to the op... Many people will pay different amounts for this reel. The upside is that they are durable. The downside is that they are bulky by today's standards and they've been discontinued for along time, so parts are harder to find.

I'd personally never part with mine unless absolutely necessary, but I wouldn't pay an arm and a leg either.

If the Bantam Curado was the reel I wanted, I'd definitely spring for 85-bucks for a reel in mint condition.

I sold two earlier this year for $75 per and they were no where near new I can tell you that. Those reels don't die and I personally never had any issue palming them. You can get a newer I for close to the same money and it will have a lot of Shimanos newer tech in it but remember the saying they don't make em like they used to.

If i were still servicing reels for other people, I would pay about fifty bucks to have one laying around as an organ donor.

I would say about $75-$100.  I had 5 of them and sold them all for more than I paid for them.

The guy I fish with has 4 of the CU-200.  Some are in better condition than others but they still cast well and catch fish. I have tried to get him to upgrade and he thinks new reel don't palm as well nor do they cast the way he likes.

I'd pay $3 to have a retired/archived forum where posts that haven't been replied to in over 3 years are in "read only" mode so as not to be brought back to the top when no longer relative.

While most of the time it's just funny/dumb, sometimes I think it makes sense to add to a super old thread with new info, esp if it's a technical topic.

Also in better times I would pay MSRP for a NIB oldstock reel if I came across one that I was into.

Yea, because the post that brought it back was very informative.
