Super User A-Jay Posted January 4, 2017 Super User Posted January 4, 2017 I can see were a light Fluorocarbon leader and a wacky rigged Senko would be very effective right there .. .. .. .. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User Scott F Posted January 4, 2017 Super User Posted January 4, 2017 People have been attaching video cameras to down riggers for years to capture video of fish following and grabbing baits. The article does not state whether the drone swims free like a flying drone or tethered to a boat. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted January 4, 2017 Author Super User Posted January 4, 2017 Here's another pic from The Verge. And @Scott F it does look like its tethered in this pic. Except for the fact that he's not wearing a PFD, I could see this being @A-Jay in his hey day One more, and for sure, it is tethered, @Scott F, though not in this photo. http://www.pcmag.com/news/350766/underwater-powerray-drone-can-help-find-your-dinner 2 Quote

It's capable of operating at depths of 98 feet (30 meters) without issue, and features a 4K video camera to record the world beneath the surface of the water." Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted January 4, 2017 Super User Posted January 4, 2017 Nice invention, but I rather go diving and see the fish in their natural habitat. 2 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted January 4, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 4, 2017 The Chinese would take your underwater drone like they did to the U.S. Navy a few weeks back! ? 1 Quote

That was one of my favorite video games to play when I was a child. As for going down and blasting fish there's a sport called spearfishing that you can do and is extremely fun(where you are allowed to). 1 hour ago, Darren. said: I would too, if I lived where that waters were clear (like FL)! I have dived days where the ocean vis was over +100 feet, its paradise down here for anyone who loves the outdoors! 2 Quote
jr231 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 @soflabasser yes sir.. MegaMan , donkey Kong, and sonic the hedgehog pretty much made up my childhood gaming lol. I did get the chance to scuba dive ! In Cozumel one time. It was awesome . And my tab on the beach ended up being 440 pesos . Lol. I was really worried for a moment. No spear fishing though. Bucket list for sure. 1 Quote
bigfruits Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 it would be cool to play with and see the bottom of the lake but what fun is fishing with it? Quote

From the looks of the picture with @A-Jay's younger self, it looks like it's a break away rig or something. You move the drone to where fish are, once the bait is taken, you set hook, rinse and repeat. At least that's how I interpret what I see in the pic. 2 Quote
bigfruits Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 yeah - its not fishing in the sporting sense is what i meant. im sure i could have fun doing that for a few hrs but i wont have the same feeling the night before or morning of a long fishing day. playing with different baits its part of the fun. theres fun in the challenge too? cool little sub though 1 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted January 5, 2017 Super User Posted January 5, 2017 Only two to three thousand dollars? What a steal! I'll take 7. 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 5, 2017 Super User Posted January 5, 2017 When a bass pro uses one in a tournament it will hit the fan and be declared legal or illegal. Stay tuned. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted January 11, 2017 Author Super User Posted January 11, 2017 Well, TW has got a report on the drone so it MUST be *something* LOL.... http://tackletour.com/previewpowerraydrone.html Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 11, 2017 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 11, 2017 Interesting, but.... Being first-to-market doesn't necessarily mean "the best", but it usually means "the most expensive". I expect to see dozens of copycats at ICAST this year, with more innovations and lower prices. 1 Quote

No doubt. In 10 years, it'll all be different. We'll be sending fish drones, undetectable to nature, looking for big bass Quote
