looney4largemouth Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 What's you guys' thoughts on green mono, such as Berkley XT, for jigs, t rigs, and top water (horny toads, buzzbaits)? Works well for night time bass fishing? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 3, 2017 Super User Posted January 3, 2017 Berkley Big Game Green has been a major component of my Bass fishing for a long time. I especially like it as a leader in front of a braid main line. When I want a nylon (non-flouro) leader or even main line with a higher level of abrasion resistance, I reach for Maxima Ultragreen. I also use an older (discontinued) Stren Mono called Magnaflex that I like quite a bit. A-Jay 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 3, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 3, 2017 I use copolymer or mono for all those applications except the Horny Toad I fish on braid. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Mono will work on all of the techniques you mentioned, with the possible exception of toads. I use braid or braid with a leader for all of them, but mono will work just fine too. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted January 3, 2017 Super User Posted January 3, 2017 Original Stren or McCoy Mean Green. Quote
thebillsman Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Have you considered Trilene Transoptic? Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 3, 2017 Super User Posted January 3, 2017 Berkley Big Game the real Mean Green! Quote
Jagg Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 I'm a big believer in green mono myself. Night or day; freshwater or saltwater. Really love my green line or at least a green mono leader. Quote
S. Sass Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Berkley Big Game Solar Collector works for me on everything even toads. Although braid is probably better. Quote
looney4largemouth Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 Thanks to you all for your helpful input. Greatly appreciate it! Quote
