Randy Shafer Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Fellow bass fishermen! I need feedback! We will be retiring soon and I would like your opinions on the best place to retire in South Carolina, Georgia area....Waterfront home sounds awesome, nice practical home, small rancher with walk out basement?....$250,000.00 I was thinking I could get some good practical thoughts from the fishermen themselves. (If you had it to do over again where would you live?) We have a travel trailer so the plan would be to camp and check out your suggestions for a couple years before the big investment. Lakes or Is there any bass fishing close to the coast??? Gonna buy that awesome bass boat in the future also....Thanks in advance!! 1 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted January 2, 2017 Super User Posted January 2, 2017 Look into the Charleston area of SC. It's a great city and there are lots of places to fish. There are plenty of lakes in SC. That number you throw out for a house on a lake is about right for Lake Wateree, near Camden. 1 Quote

Al Wolbach Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 When we retired we purchased a lake home in East Tennessee and have really been happy here on Douglas Lake. There are several lakes here that may interest you. I would suggest a google search. That being said, if I could get a do over, I would look at the Santee Cooper lakes in South Carolina. The areas I would consider would be the city of Monchs Corner on the lower lake and the city of Santee on the upper lake. Great fishing but hot summers. Lifes little trade offs to consider, the further south you go the hotter summers and north the cooler winters. If weather is not real important then South Carolina would be my first choice. The areas I mentioned in SC also have salt water fishing roughly an hours drive away which would be a plus to consider. Good luck with your search and welcome to BR. Quote
