TxHawgs Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 New to throwing swimbaits, how do you store your 6 & 8" Huds? And anyone that owns a bunch of Huddlebugs how are you storing those? Also do I need to do anything from keeping these baits from dry rotting? Thanks guys I really appreciate it? Quote

Super User WRB Posted January 2, 2017 Super User Posted January 2, 2017 I made storage boxes from Lock & Lock food containers about 10 years ago, work good. The containers are 5 1/2" square blue top model that are 9 1/2" and 6 1/2" tall. Drill 1/8" holes in the lid , 2 rows 2.5 apart on 1.25 centers, total of 8 holes. Push Swivel clips eye through each hole so the clips are inside the container and run a wire through the swivel eye, both rows. Open the clip and hang the Hudds by the hook eye tail down, close the clip. Hang 8 Hudds on each lid, lower into the container and snap the latches, set the container down so the Hudds are hanging head up. When you need a Hudd, unlatch the lid and remove whichever Hudd you need, fast and easy! Hanging by the head hook eye the Hudds never deform, stay straight. 8" Hudds in the 9 1/2" and 6" in the 6 1/2 tall containers. Tom 3 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 3, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 3, 2017 I keep all my swimbaits, including my Hudds, in a homemade box very similar to what Tom described. 7 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted January 3, 2017 Super User Posted January 3, 2017 I built a box very similar to BlueBasser's and Tom's, except I have dowels running across mine that the swivels are attached to with tiny tie wraps. Quote
d-camarena Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Someone makes them and sells them on ebay for around $40. Maybe you could make it for less money but you save time 1 Quote
gripnrip Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 I don't have many but this is my container. 1 Quote
Big Swimbait Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Did something similar. I just glued a piece of pegboard to the side of the container & used double pegboard hooks. The Hudds & other big boot tail baits hang by the tails. I also use the double hooks after boiling a crooked/bent tail to hang them straight while cooling. Quote
j bab Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Besides the ones I store in the bottom of the lake, this is what I do: 4 Quote

mixel Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 No I don't own any of those. I just google imaged the term "swimbait storage" and those are what came up. Usually the fastest way to get ideas on something like this. You can get the threaded rods from your local hardware store. Comes in many different lengths. https://www.lowes.com/pl/Threaded-rods-Fasteners-Hardware/4294625944 Then you need a couple nuts for each end. Then drill a couple holes in your box and assemble. Super User WRB Posted January 5, 2017 Super User Posted January 5, 2017 You are better off attaching the swimbaits to the lid with snap swivels then using rod cross bars. What happens is the swimbait can fall off the rod and end up on the bottom of the box and difficult to get out without removing several swimbaits. I know this from experience! Tom Quote
