iiTzChunky Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I've organized and reorganized my gear and I'm ready to get out on the water but I'm in the middle of Missouri so I don't think I'll be able to hit the water for a few more months. What does everyone else do when there stuck on land and have no chance to hit the water Quote
iiTzChunky Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 I've done that. Waiting on a 85$ box of stuff from bass pro to hit my door step. I'm trying to talk my lady into a trip to TX for a quick fishing trip. Quote

flyingmonkie Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I like to organize. I spent the past two weeks remodeling my garage and finally have a halfway decent fishing "workshop". I'm also the Staff Advisor to the University of Oklahoma's Fishing Team, and I just spent a lot of time working with our student anglers on a fundraising campaign we're going to roll out in a couple weeks. And of course, can't beat practicing your flipping/pitching in the back yard. 3 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted January 2, 2017 Super User Posted January 2, 2017 I usually just gnaw on the drywall and pace back and forth until I see a robin in my front yard. Then I scream at it "What took you so &^#@ long you stupid bird!". That is usually when the neighbors call the cops and I have to explain some things. After the short trip to the police station I start gearing up. Organizing tackle, making plans, arguing online about who makes a better rod, reel, mono, experimental nuclear fusion device until the weather gets to the point where I'm somewhat sure a fish may decide to attack my lure just for the fact that it hasn't seen that lure in months. If I'm right its a good day. If I'm wrong, I find that stupid bird and hold it hostage till things go my way. Cabin fever....never heard of it. 6 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted January 2, 2017 Super User Posted January 2, 2017 1. Organize Tackle 2. Discover while organizing tackle that I need to replenish a bag of worms 3. "Bag of worms" turns out to be a 20 item TW order 6 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted January 2, 2017 Super User Posted January 2, 2017 Praise the Lord.....I've lived in Oregon and now Tennessee. Two completly different worlds but have been able to catch fish every month in both states....especially now. Although once I was laid up for about six months and couldn't fish...rods and reels got moldy....boat compartments were moldy too. Couldn't get up to do anything. I somewhat know what your going through. You need a long weekend south maybe. Quote
Sprocket Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Why will it be a few months? I live in Kansas and am going fishing in about an hour or so. SE Kansas grass grower 1 Quote

TheRodFather Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I'm trying to convince my wife that we need to get down to Florida sometime in January/February to visit her parents. 3 Quote

You know, I can fit easily into carry-on luggage. Also if you drive to FL, I make an excellent spare tire. 1 Quote

I'm happy to take another fisherman along. Her parents live in a cul de sac in Port Charlotte with three canals that meet in the back yard. My FIL built a 12x10ft deck with pontoons and a trolling motor with solar battery charger for drifting up and down the canals. It's awesome. We went in July of this year, it was so darn hot, but was still a ton of fun. So much water to throw a line in. They run a nursery on their property and the two on each side, with every kind of citrus fruit you can imagine, palms of every type everywhere, it really is like a tropical paradise. Another family member took us out in Charlotte Harbor when we were there and we caught some Sea Trout, Snapper, and my wife caught a Bonnet-head shark. You can take a shift driving so I can nap. God knows my nerves are on high alert when she is behind the wheel and couldn't think of relaxing......... Uh oh, I gotta go, I think she's watching me.......he he 2 Quote

Onvacation Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 I caught the three yesterday just south of you. All it takes is raingear, layering, and a little bit of luck that there won't be a 1/2" of ice on the water when you get there. Quote
