CrustyMono Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I am getting a 7' MH Vendetta casting rod. I want to use it for moving baits. I am trying to decide what line to use it with. What if I used 20 lb TUF LINE Force? I would use a 15 pound fluorocarbon leader. Quote
FishOnLMB Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 IMO, 12-15 lb fluro is the best line to use for moving baits. You can throw crankbaits, spinnerbaits, chatrerbaits, soft plastic swimbait, swimjigs and anything else you can think of. The only thing I don't recommend is throwing it in heavy cover, but sparse cover or open water is good. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 2, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 2, 2017 15lb Big Game is what I use for moving baits except cranks, I use 10lb Big Game for that. Quote

Super User MassYak85 Posted January 2, 2017 Super User Posted January 2, 2017 I'm probably in the minority but I like braid for my moving baits, I tried using Yozuri Hybrid for spinnerbaits this year and while I liked the line I missed the direct contact and sensitivity of braid and the stretch in the line I felt cost me a few fish on the hooksets when they didn't fully grab it. If you decide to go braid I'd recommend stepping up to 30lb as your mainline if you are using leaders that heavy. 20lb braid to a 15lb leader is a pretty big difference in line diameters. 2 Quote
mwh33 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I use 12-15 lb copolymer line. Usually whatever I have sitting around. P-line or Yo-Zuri Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Moving baits with treble hooks or single hook? I'm pretty much down to using braid with a long copoly or mono leaders. they are cheaper lines, give a bit of stretch to trebles and the knots are more forgiving. i also like the stretch when someone wraps me around timber, docks etc I only use fluoro leaders with heavier line for jigs 1 Quote
PatrickKnight Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I use braid with a leader for just about all the fishing I do and this includes moving baits. 1 Quote
