BrackishBassin Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I'm heading out as soon as I can get these babies fed. Got a jerkbait and black/blue jig with a blue trailer tied on. If those don't do anything in about an hour I'll try swapping over to a drop shot with the new worms I got for Christmas and maybe a lipless crankbait. Hitting up a local pond. Hoping that even with bluebird skies the higher than average air temps (51) and abundant sunshine will stir them up just a bit. I'll edit when I get home to add the results of the trip. If nothing else, wetting a line on the first day of the new year makes sure you're starting out on the right foot. Results: Not even a nibble. Tried a jerkbait, jig, lipless crankbait, and a weightless senko. Then switched over to a sliding float and a grub on a jig head thinking I'd at least get a nibble from some crappie. Nothing. Spent the rest of the time until the sun went down just sitting on the bank enjoying the warmth. Quote
Yakalong Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 It may be a couple of weeks before I have a chance at my first for 2017 1 Quote

Kyhokie Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Feeling so lucky this morning. Cold and rainy here in North Dallas...woke up at 6 and almost said the heck with it, but I got out and braved the elements. Total of 9 in two and a half hours, this moose being the best of the bunch by far. Gonna be a great year. Ps. Thanks bassresource, she came on a rattle trap, which I only threw bc I read here that they are good winter lures lol! 11 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 3, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 3, 2017 No picture of my first one, it was raining at the time but it was on a homemade bladed jig. Caught several on that, a swinging football head with a beaver, and a Duo Realis Rozante 63. I did get a picture of a fish that really liked the Rozante. 6 Quote

Jamo Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Picked up the first bass of 2017 on a Berkley Havoc sick fish but most success has been on a drop shot, my two biggest have been on a jig 1 Quote
