Fishin' Fool Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Like the question says how much unopened tackle new in the package do you own? I think I have at least a $1000 worth. I probably should do a more precise inventory this winter, mostly soft plastics senkos, and other Yamamotos, some Strike King crank baits and the Lucky Craft collectables that I am afraid to turn into muskie chow. Oh yah and I have 6 MTB pro boxes with all the tackle inside. Those alone are almost $300. 1 Quote
seyone Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 It would be really hard for me to put a dollar amount on it. I have several boxes full of new hard baits and several boxes full of unopened soft plastics. One box is just strike king series 5 and 5 xd crankbaits, probably 50 or more. Another is various rapalas. I also have a pretty good amount of new without package stuff. 1 Quote
jr231 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 So much it's ridiculous. I can't stop buying. I don't even use half of it. I probably use 1/8th of it. 6 Quote

Super User MassYak85 Posted January 1, 2017 Super User Posted January 1, 2017 I don't have the self control to leave lures unopened when I get them but I also am not buying so many that I have 3 spares either haha Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 1, 2017 Super User Posted January 1, 2017 I have a good bit, but I'll defend my somewhat silly admission by saying that most (though not all) consists of bags of assorted discontinued high quality soft baits as well as a certain unopen carton shipped from Ebay that may or may not contain 4 lines of the most sought after discontinued hard baits a bass head could ever hope to get his grubby little paws on .. .. .. .. .. .. .. Routinely they are kept in an undisclosed location - even to me, Securities tight, so I have to blindfold myself to locate and fish them. Granna's all about it too , , , and there is serious consequences if you lose one of these most highly covered works of bass catching genius .. .. .. .. .. A Tazer may be too good for you, Things are getting a little weird all up in here . . . . . . A-Jay 7 Quote
j bab Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I have a small shopping bag full of crankbaits and jigs that I grabbed on clearance from .88 to 2.88 a piece awhile back, that's about it for unopened stuff. I don't have room in my tackle backpack for any more crankbaits I have plenty of opened but never thrown baits in my tackle boxes though Quote
ethan-333 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 right now. probabaly 100 different soft bait bags and crank baits.. some hooks, tungsten weights but after i organize everything and inventory it just about all the crank baits will be opened. and softplastics put in boxes still in the bags. but that doesnt mean ill use them lol. 1 Quote
S. Sass Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Too much but like others some is discontinued I stocked up on. Some is duplicates of lures I use a lot and want to have spares immediately accessible. And some were MTB or LTB stuff I immediately said not for me and tossed into a old large Plano 4 tray box. Its almost full by the way with all new lures as well as several of the Steril(sp) plastic bins around here. 1 Quote
Super User Scott F Posted January 1, 2017 Super User Posted January 1, 2017 I never leave new baits in their original packaging. When I get something new, I take it out of the package and move it to the correct Plano utility box unless it's some bait that might dry out or stink up the rest of my gear. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 1, 2017 Super User Posted January 1, 2017 With the exception of plastics none; spinnerbaits, crankbaits, buzzbaits I have 2 or 3 of each size & color in my tackle box. Plastics I keep at least 100 of each proven producer! 1 Quote
Bill Kowalski Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 My father passed this pass year and was an advid finesse fisherman. With his inheritance of plastics and my own I have some winter organization to do! Time for some more freezer bags. 1 Quote
bigturtle Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I always take baits out of their packaging, other than soft plastics. The packages takes up too much space, won't be able to hide everything under my bed 2 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted January 1, 2017 Super User Posted January 1, 2017 I can count the number of unopened packages on one hand...............to the 10th power. 4 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted January 1, 2017 Super User Posted January 1, 2017 A lot...I mean..really, a lot. More than I could count, mostly cause they are everywhere. In bags, big bags and small bags. Plastics, crankbaits, spinners both in-line and safety pin, jerkbaits. If you could see my sportsman's room, it looks like a bomb went off in there. 4 Quote
wdp Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Ok.... so...... like this whole thread needs to be removed because we don't even need to go there. 6 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted January 1, 2017 Super User Posted January 1, 2017 Outside of stuff I got for Christmas I would not say all that much. I'm not including some plastics because I have extra unopened bags of my go to plastics, why open it. But I have my share of Bass fishing tackle for sure. In season if I buy a crankbait, spinner bait or something I order one because I want just that bit of a color variation. It's getting used. I'm ready to throw it. It's not setting around. I will pick up items during the winter to have for spring. I keep a short list of colors, compare different manufacture similar style (ex. Rapala vs. Baker), Maybe pick up proven crankbaits in a shallower and deeper running version. But they will not be in an unopened package long. I know I don't impulse buy tackle, What I do buy generally works. Quote
tholmes Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Probably a couple dozen crankbaits, a few packs of worm hooks and weights and a few packs of soft plastics. Tom Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted January 1, 2017 Super User Posted January 1, 2017 A few bags of soft plastics and tungsten jig hooks I picked up this past holiday sale season. That's about it. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted January 1, 2017 Super User Posted January 1, 2017 Maybe more than I should or maybe not. In the end If I want it, within reason, I buy it. I have not gotten to fish as much the last two years and that has led to many a purchase. I don't worry about it that much because at this stage of my life I have the ability to buy what I need and evidently that has been aplenty. Unopened..... Hmmmm.... Perhaps the question, for me anyway, should be I have no clue because If I bought It I needed it? LOL Yes, we'll go with that. 1 Quote
