Caliyak Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Great game, tide goes down and congrats Clemson. This game and Rose, best games. Quote
jr231 Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Hahahahah. What cracks me up is people talking about Alabama being able to beat a pro team. I could take the worst players from all the pro teams and still have a team that would stomp Alabama. Just no comparison at all. That being said their young QB is impressive. And I thought they were gonna win it all. Good job to Clemson. 1 Quote
dwh4784 Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 I think that comes from the media (especially CBS and ESPN) absolutely loving the SEC for so long. Every year their teams pack the preseason top ten rankings then don't live up to the hype. Alabama being the exception to the rule. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted January 10, 2017 Super User Posted January 10, 2017 That was an epic game!! Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted January 10, 2017 Super User Posted January 10, 2017 glad i fell asleep so that i didn't have to witness that upset first hand. Great game by Clemson and very commendable remarks by their head coach at the end. He is a class act. Quote
tander Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Congrats Clemson, I am an SEC fan but enough is enough. 1 Quote

Outside of Alabama, the SEC is a weak conference. LSU, Florida, Georgia have some good years but overall, not the best conference. I can say Big 10 and ACC were the best conferences. ESPN does not like the West Coast. We get no love. USC will get some time next year because that QB is the real deal. Other than that, ESPN does not bother with the PAC 12. My last comment, Alabama's Defense, the talk all week, showed that it's not that good. All hype. Clemson ran one play twice and got two TDs with no adjustments from Saban. How? Saban is a defensive guru and so on, come on! Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 10, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 10, 2017 When Alabama loses we all win. I am a lifelong Tennessee fan and alumnist and you will never see me cheer for another SEC team unless it's Tennessee. It doesn't do me any good when our opponents win championships. I have never understood people rooting for other teams that are in their conference. Take the last decade for example. Alabama has dominated and everyone else in the conference has suffered because The more championships Alabama wins the better players they stock pile. I suppose Auburn has done OK but everyone else is firing coaches left and right 1 Quote

The University of Washington Huskies kicked butt this year, making it to #4, and it was like ESPN was grudgingly covering them, often insinuating the Huskies didn't earn it. When it comes to college football, ESPN is extremely biased, and doesn't try to hide it. Congrats to Clemson! I was rooting for them to win! 1 Quote
MGranlund Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 I was extremely bummed when they lost, but in the end it was a great game and Clemson deserved it. Hopefully Sark can work with Hurts now and develop his downfield passing game. No matter what, fishing and CFB are the two greatest sports on the planet. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted January 10, 2017 Super User Posted January 10, 2017 Acc and Sec are the best.In the last 10 years Ohio state is the only team that won outside of these 2 conferences.Sec won 7 and Acc.2 Most of the good teams in most conferences would be mediocre in these 2. I usually root for the Sec in general( unless it hurts Florida ) I just couldn't stand it anymore.Enough is enough. That being said ,I like Clemson and their coach.Happy for them. 1 Quote

When I say that the SEC is weak, I mean from top to bottom. if you take the bottom 3 teams in the SEC and they play the bottom three of the PAC 12, Pac 12 wins all three. SEC has one team; Alabama. they have 3-4 good teams and then a drop off to 6 JV teams. ACC, Big 10 and 12 are stronger than the SEC. I agree with you, Alabama is on a different level but the SEC is not. I don't mean to argue or start a fight but just having a good talk. If I offend, not my purpose and I apologize. Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 10, 2017 Super User Posted January 10, 2017 Don't count LSU out yet! Even with the official's giving em a touchdown LSU held Bama to 10 points! LSU destroyed the Heisman winner! I do understand Clemson is a good team...a very good team! 1 Quote

Fournette will be missed though. 1 Quote

I think the SEC west is the best in football. The SEC east is weaker.I honestly don't know much about the big 10 or 12. but I don't think their lower 3 would win all 3 against our lowest 3. Even Vanderbilt would be competitive because of their defense. It would be fun to see them play more, other than bowls. But don't think that's happening! The thing with the SEC is that we beat each other up so bad all year that it's amazing that we still win so many Nat. championships. Its not always bama either, except recently. Quote

Some teams like Clemson stepped up, others not so much. Everyone talks about the bottom of the SEC, how about the top 6 from each conference? Big 12 & Pac12 are still all offense & can not play defense! 3 Quote

The ACC was the top football conf this year - great overall bowl record plus the NC. 3 Quote
