Deplorable Fisherman Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 His voice is what drew me to it back in the day and as I grew older I actually appreciate the tenor/countertenor vocals more. Hank Shermann and Michael Denner were quite a pair, but Denner and LaRoque are fantastic as well and Mikkey Dee is an exceptionally better drummer than Kim Ruzz. I also like that King went to telling whole spooky stories through the albums and strayed from the devil stuff. Helps that I've always been a fan of horror films. Quote

I've been lucky enough to see Waits live twice. 1a and 1b for my favorite concerts I've ever seen. Can't say enough about it. This is what I'm listening to while I work today. Love me some slow metal. Quote

Good description of life in Appalachia about 2 generations ago “Apple brandy or sour mash, it don’t make a d**n to me. It’ll get there full and it’ll get there fast but it ain’t gonna get there for free” Quote

Super User MN Fisher Posted June 10, 2021 Super User Posted June 10, 2021 Normally I dislike tribute songs - but this one struck a chord with me first time I heard it cause I know the story behind it. Quote
