fish4aliving Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Hey guys im looking at getting some flick shake jig heads but wasnt sure what all sizes to get. So i was curious what size/color you guys usually throw the most and if you buy the ones with the weed guard or not. also what your favorite type of line is to use too. All advice welcome! Thanks!! PersicoTrotaVA Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Do you mean the jigheads or the plastic worms? If it the worms both sizes work great and colors depend on the forage in the water(match the hatch). I have found the zoom finesse worm to be a less expensive better alternative. Green pumpkin magic is the only color you will need. If it's the jigheads, I go with a cheaper alternative and I don't go heavier than 1/8 oz, 1/4 if I'm fishing deep(20+ ft). I fish a lot of short water so I barely go over 1/16 and use a 1/32 a lot. Oh and I use the owner weighted wacky hooks. As far as line, I use 20 to 30 lb braid with the drag set low. Sometimes in clearer water I will use a 6 ft to 12 ft fluorocarbon leader(12 to 20 lb). Hope this helps! 1 Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted December 29, 2016 Super User Posted December 29, 2016 I like the VMC ones. 1/16th oz is a good "all purpose" size. If fishing deeper than say 8-10 feet or there is some wind, I bump up to 1/8th oz. These have light wire hooks, and are best used on M or ML spinning gear with 6-10lb line. If you want to beef up the offering and toss a flick shake/wacky jig on casting gear in and around heavier cover, I like the revenge flippin' wacker's heads. They are like a miny flipping jig designed for wacky rigging. 1 Quote
