Hi all

I have discovered and have been using my old Shimano spinning reel that I found while cleaning out some old storage. I have failed to find information about it online, other than it is from the 1980's. I am hoping you can shed some light on what I have. I have listed the stampings that I found on the reel to help in its ID. I understand what the stampings are telling me. I just would like to know more about the reel, like is it any good? is it worth anything? etc

The stampings on the reel body

Rear drag
Quickfire II
Custom-X Speedmaster Aero
XT-7 Composite
CX 6-10#A
Custom Aerowrap system
6.2:1 Gear Ratio
3 bal bearings

The stampings on the spool

Aero
6-10#A
Custom Aero System
Line Cap (lb.-Yds.) 6-280 8-210 10-180

The stamping on the drag knob

Fighting Star

Additionally, the bail does not always completely open when using the quickfire nor does it always close when initially winding. In both cases, it gets stuck by the spool which seems is too extended at those times. I am hoping that you can steer me in the correct direction for fixing those problems.

Thank you

Two options,....

1) remove the quickfire trigger and open and close the bail manually.

2) contact Mike at Delaware Valley Tackle,..(Site Sponsor),.He does awesome work and would most likely know whether its repairable or not

I had one of these reels and loved it, casted well and was smooth. I miss it as mine got demolished in a fire.
