Gents,

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on 3 casting reels.

I have tried the ci4 and loved it, but am wondering what would Daiwa's equivalent be, and any feedback on both would be appreciated.

Apologies for a rookie question,

Al

The Ballistic appears to be the Daiwa comparable reel in price. I have nothing more to offer than that. I personally have 4 Stradic reels.

The Tackletour guys did a side by side comparison of the Chronarch CI4 and Zillion TWS.  I think they gave the edge to the Chronarch but both were pretty similar in performance.  I own both reels (high gear ratios so I don't use them for cranking) and love them both.  I just ordered a 6.3:1 Zillion from TW at the insane price of $121.50 (combo of 10% off gift card and current sale price of $135).  Should've got another but they sold out.  If you're looking for a reel for deep cranks, I believe TW still has Zillion 5.5:1's.

I would say the Zillion SV TW is the closest thing in size and function to the CI4.  The Zillion TW is a decent amount larger than the Chronarch.  I would give the performance edge to the Zillion SV.  I find the braking superior and the spool to be very user friendly.

You'll enjoy the ci4. It's a very comfortable reel to palm, and the spool still has the capacity to allow it to be a great all around reel. You can bomb heavy topwaters, and you can throw 1/4oz baits with ease as well. It's a really sweet spot of a size.

The new braking system is also a nice touch. I usually set mine half on, half off internally, and then I can just fine adjust with the external dial throughout the day as conditions/baits change.

You want either the CI4 or the FK. I like the 2500 size reels. Tight lines.
