I saw a post on Facebook by River 2 Sea about receiving some new rods from TFO.  Does anyone know if TFO is reinvigorating their line of rods?  And could pass on some information about them.  A few years ago I was looking into buying some TFO rods but was never able to get my hands on them and went the rout of *** instead.  Would like to try and give them a go again.

Thanks!

Paul

They came out with a new line of conventional rods designed by Elite Pro Cliff Pace (TFO Pacemaker Series) at this summer's ICAST event...many of those are probably just now hitting dealers in bulk.

I haven't bought any of the most recent series of TFO conventional rods...but I have a bunch of their rods.

I like them a lot, and keep buying them - I feel they are an unrecognized deal - great rods for less than cutting edge pricing.

I have a bunch of TFO fly rods as well...which absolutely put the lie to the idea that fly fishing has to be expensive.

Thanks for the information.  What TFO rods do you have and what applications do you feel they excel at?

Tough question without going out and digging them all out of the boat...

While warning that I tend to go overboard on detail, I'd offer to do wander out to to the boat, pull all the rods, list model #s and give an evaluation...what I'd say overall is that in an on-going contrast to St. Croix rods (my personal favorate) they deliver the same level of performance and much lower price points that the St. Croix rods.

Rods that stand out:

I have a 9 ft. TFG STC 905-2 that I use for 1 oz. spoons for pike and musky.

I have a GTS C736-1 that I use for throwing t-rigged (typically 3/8 .oz bullet weights) soft plastics.

I have a GTS P797-1 that is my go-to pitching rod.

Thanks for the information.   May have to bite the bullet and order one.

Happy to help.  As I said, I'm happy to go out and get model #s on the other stuff.

I really found their conventional rods because I use their fly rods.  I like their fly rods a lot... as good as rods that cost 2x or 3x as much.
