FishOnLMB Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Hey, I am going Rainbow Trout fishing at a few lakes this weekend. I was wondering what your favorite lures were besides Kastmasters and Flies. I know bait works, but I don't want to guy hook them. So what is your go to lure for Rainbow Trout in lakes????? Quote
Super User Angry John Posted December 23, 2016 Super User Posted December 23, 2016 how deep are you fishing. I use the duo MR series and DR series when trolling and they have killed it for me all over the state of Washington. i also like them because the bait suspends when you cast it out or stop so i dont hang up very much if ever. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Duo_Realis_Shad_62DR_Crankbait/descpage-DUO62DR.html 1 Quote

Super User Crestliner2008 Posted December 29, 2016 Super User Posted December 29, 2016 Think seriously about picking up a few Thompson Buoyant spoons. Just put a quality ball bearing swivel about 18" up from the spoon to reduce line twist. I like the small size TB's for trolling and/or casting. I've also caught more than my share of trout on ball head 1/16 - 1/8 oz. jig heads dressed with straight tailed (Bobby Garland's Baby Shads) plastics. These are about the only lures I find it necessary to take along. I love to experiment, so, of course I have boxes of other enticements as well. These I know will put fish in the fryer ever time for me. 2 Quote
Subaqua Adinterim Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 If you are flat line trolling in relatively shallow water, the Storm Original Thin Fin is a great lure. This goofy looking lure will catch most anything including trout. I recommend the silver/blue in the 2.5" size. These are $4.99 from Cabelas, however, you may get them elsewhere for less. Some of the prior recommendations are also good, little Cleos, Panther Martins, Phoebes. Off a down rigger, small light weight flutter spoons are good as well; such as a Mighigan Stinger for example. 1 Quote
James Pondscum Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 If the water is clear , the lil jake. With some color? Panther martin or ecopro spinners. They have more weight at the same size. 1 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted December 31, 2016 Super User Posted December 31, 2016 FishOnLMB- Since you ruled out Kastmasters and a cast a bubble with a fly/leach pattern. From shore I'd go with a black Rooster Tail, behind the boat- Rebel Wee Crawfish or fly lining a threaded night crawler. Good fishing in 2017, JB 1 Quote

tholmes Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I've done well with in-line spinners (Panther Martin. Rooster Tail, Mepps), Kastmasters, and 1/8/oz. Tiny Traps in chrome. The biggest Rainbow that I ever caught was on a 1/4 oz. blade bait, Tom 1 Quote

NavyTom Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I deep fry trout. Bread and drop in the fryer. Can't fry them fast enough. Grand kids and myself love them. 1 Quote
