DoDFire Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Figured I would start the first day of winter off the right way. Hit the lake today at daylight and managed to put 12 in the boat. No big girls wanted to dance but that's alright. First day of winter with a winter technique, I'll take it. All fish were caught on the hair jig in 10-18'. I fished the pockets (coves) and all the fish were 3\4 the way back in the coves. H2O temp 52°. Fish were in the transition between chunk rock and gravel. 1\8oz. hair jig crawled slow with a few being caught stroking the jig (late day) . l Got Bait?? Quote

Yes Sir, there was a bunch of surface activity in there as well. That cove looks like that all winter and has for the past 4 years I have fished in there. I should have tossed the A-rig in the middle of the chaos just to see if I could get bit. I fished the Powell River side, that's where I stay in the winter when I get to fish. I found a bunch of bait in the coves but most of the bait was in 60' of water and dead center of the creek channels. If you throw any hair jigs in the 1\8 oz. range now would be a good time to break them out and have some fun. I allowed 4 fish to just wear me out and I set the hook a little late and I lost one 5 seconds after I set the hook. I should have put 17 in the boat today, I'll take the 12 anyday on Norris but 17 sure would have been nice. I did try my new crankbait setup and was sling'n that RK 55 Rock Crawler but never had a hit and I also dropped a blade bait on a few marked fish and came up empty there as well. I think I might try to go back Friday if my back will let me if not maybe Monday or Tuesday. If you fish the Powell River side and see 17' blue and silver Bullet stop in and holler at me. Good luck if you get to go. Quote

I have fished near Anderson co park once which I believe is where the two rivers come together Quote
