IgotWood Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I am in the market for a rod...and just like many fishermen, I want the rod to be able to do everything. Just kidding. What I am looking for, is a rod that will be used primarily for pitching jigs around trees and timber. Ideally, I would also like to be able to also get away with frogging, and maybe a light-weight, compact A-rig on occasion. Is this even possible? I fish out of a kayak, so I limit myself to carrying no more than four rods at a time. I hear most guys recommending med/hvy, or heavy power rods with a fast action for jigs. I am looking at heavy, moderate-fast rods in the 7'6" range. Am I out of line thinking I can do these things with just this one rod? Quote

I like my x-heavy flipping sticks to be mod-fast. I want the whole rod to load up, and exert force on the fish without worrying about some floppy tip. They also work as a frog rod, though can be a little bulky with the big rear grip. Definitely do-able, though. 1 Quote
mwh33 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Dobyns 746 HP can work for pitching and frogging. Probably will work for A. Rigs too. 1 Quote
IgotWood Posted December 24, 2016 Author Posted December 24, 2016 Thank you both! I appreciate it! Quote
Frenchman83 Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 I have no experience with A Rigs but matching your other presentations on one rod should not be a problem at all. I pitch/flip jigs and frog with the same 7'3" MH out of a Wilderness Ride 115. Quote
Yudo1 Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 You just described the 7'6" KLX frog, jig, creature rod. I have the 7'3" version and it works for everything you want. Plus it's light as heck at 4.7oz for a 7'6" rod. Very versatile and sensitive with a clean, simple build. Quote

I've been looking for a heavy rod with a mod-fast tip and this looks perfect. Is there any other rod out there that is cheaper? This is out of my price range by about 100 bucks. Quote
