FishOnLMB Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Hey, I was wondering if any of y'all know of any good bass fishing spots besides the delta. I am planing to go fishing around the Bay Area, and hit up some lakes and ponds. Does anybody know of any good places to bass fish? If you do, where do you go, what do you use, and is there a certain spot at this body of water you usually go to? Quote
mixb7 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Lake Berryessa is an excellent bass lake! I live close so that is my home lake. There is a free launch at Capell cove otherwise it is a $20 fee. Any technique will work. I drop shot or throw senkos in the spring. There is an excellent Kokanee program there so the bass fishing is great. 1 Quote

Super User WRB Posted January 24, 2017 Super User Posted January 24, 2017 Mixb7 lives in the Bay Area, with good a advice. I am in SoCal! We have had a lot of rain Dec & Jan affecting water levels greatly and shore access may be very limited for anglers trying to bass fish without a boat. When you ask about the Bay Area, where are you located and how far are you willing to travel? Tom 1 Quote

blckshirt98 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I'm in San Jose and fish the Santa Clara County reservoirs 90% of the time. I'll go trout fishing in the East Bay (Los Vaqueros/Del Valle) and on occasion will fish from the shore up in the Delta or San Luis Reservoir. East Bay is the best for trout - Los Vaqueros, Del Valle, Shadow Cliffs, Quarry Lakes, Lake Chabot, and San Pablo Reservoir are all good spots. I'll always make the drive to Los Vaqueros because I've had the most consistent bite there, very rarely not get bit. Stripers can found in the Delta, Del Valle, Los Vaqueros, and San Luis. I don't target them but reports I read are always pretty good. Bass I've had more luck in the Santa Clara County lakes - Coyote has the reputation for being the best bet for a DD(though this has died down some in recent years), Anderson has always been the best for numbers(though last year it also spit out some , and I've also had success at Uvas, Guadalupe, Almaden, and Lexington Reservoirs. Chesbro Reservoir and Almaden Lake Park are dead water to me, though I know a couple of people that kill it at Almaden Lake Park. If you're driving down from the East Bay the only two places I would recommend down here are Coyote and Anderson, if you go at the right time those places can be off the charts. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions! 1 Quote
