I do like baitcasting rods in that price range as I feel you get a very good bang for the buck. A few months back I picked up a couple of St. Croix Mojo Bass Casting Rod 7'1" Med Heavy and I feel like I have found a series of rods that I can use for years and years. Throwing a jig is my favorite presentation.

Right now you can get a Shimano Crucial 7'3" mh or heavy on sale for $125 at TW. At that price thats an excellent rod. They got a few other models for cheaper as well. I also have a 7'mh/f Abu Garcia Veritas that's great at $100.

Same rod I throw mine on.So sensitive I can feel it when a fish farts.

I have the 7' Veritas 1st gen. That thing fishes like a H not MH.I use it as a frog rod.I don't know if the 2.0 is the same.

I know technology has probably passed me by on jig rods, but I can't stop using my Original All Star WR2 or the WR1 for soft plastics. I don't know what blanks they used then, but they are still super sensitive to me. When they pop up on auction sites or in tackle shops that buy/sell used equipment, I try to take advantage. I've got 2 of each right now & would not consider selling either.

Morgan McCain, the founder of All Star has a company making rods again, McCain High Performance Fishing Rods. I visited their booth at the Classic this year. They swear the McCain C843MH is an improvement of the original WR1 & 2. Maybe one day...

Don't often reply to "best" of anything threads, add $30 and look at Irod gen2 IRG704C or IRG744C rods, excellent rods in that at that price point.

If your willing to drop 100 you might as well drop 130 and get something better.St. Croix Mojo Bass is a fantastic rod for 130. For 100 look at the Falcon Bucoo,Fenwick HMG,Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 or Duckett Ghost.

There are lots of great choices if you make your budget $150.  First I love WRBs suggestion of the Irod Genesis II rods. If so, I like the 704C personally.

However If we go with your original budget look for a Falcon Bucoo either standard or Micro series. Look at their Amistad model or lizard dragger.

Dobyns makes the Fury FR734C which should fit your needs well.

Lastly the most versatile rod that I own is a Powell Max (original series) 683 CEF.  That rod is now available in the Powell Mx3D series as well as the Inferno series. Go read tackle Tours review of that rod. They threw everything from 1/4 ounce baits up to 2 oz baits.  I love this rod, especially around docks and tight structure areas, but it works fine out in open water.  I throw primarily regular jig/plastics, swimjigs and texas rigged plastics on it. The Max3D goes for $159 and if you can swing it  I would be choosing between it and the Irod Genesis II.  If not, consider the Inferno for $100.

7ft 3 heavy H2O express from academy. $60 and it's lighter and more balanced than most rods under $120. Easily could be sold for that under a different company's name. I have a g loomis imx that use to be my jig rod but when I got the ethos it got Carolina rig duties. And academy has a no questions asked return policy something you won't find in many rods in that price range.

Actually, it's the bubbles you're feeling.

All fine suggestions.  I've owned the mojo rods, while nice I feel they are extremely heavy compared to other offerings. The Duckett ghost rods are nice but the guides are horrible imo. If I were personally buying a rod in that range it would be a powell inferno, cabelas tournament zx,  or a basspro carbonlite. In that order.  Some good prices right now on daiwa rods also if you look around and those h2o rods are supposed to be sweet for the $. Good luck

My 7'1" MH comes in at 4.4 oz

Don't buy a $130 rod. Go buy a Lightning Rod from Wal-Mart and pocket the $100. Then fish a lot and just become a better jig fisherman while stashing away another $250.

Then buy a used NRX, GLX, UMBX, Zillion, Orochi, Power Tackle, or whatever tickles your fancy. If you have some left over sweet. Bass fishing is a marathon, buy something awesome once and be done with it.

Not to sway your decision on a rod...They updated the new mojo series with sc111 blanks. They are lighter, more balanced and fish as nicely as my ltbs and avids. Not that there aren't other fantastic rods for that price, but I think the new generation of these rods are a solid choice.
