jr231 Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 You can't beat the original floater.. I'd fish it next to any bait in its class.. and be confident I'd win Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 17, 2016 Super User Posted December 17, 2016 I retired my Suspending rattling Rogues the first time fishing a Daiwa TD minnow back in the esrly 90's. Lucky Craft came out with thier 100 Pointer ghost minnow and never looked back. Tom Quote

The Rapala Original is still the one I fish and it's done well for me! Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted December 17, 2016 Super User Posted December 17, 2016 The Bagley Bang-O-Lure and the Bagley Minnow B, both are killer floating style minnows. The Minnow B is very similar to my favorite rogue but it is louder in sound and has a wider tail kick, the Bang-O-Lure is balsa and it great when stealth is needed. I also like using the Rapala Flat Rap, it is more subtle than others but fish will hit that when they won't take any others. 1 Quote
edfitzvb Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 When you fish them right, it is HARD to beat an original floating Rapala. Size 9 in black and white has caught a lot of fish for me. Also like the perch and brown trout finishes Quote
SwampLife Posted December 17, 2016 Author Posted December 17, 2016 Does the original floater have rattles? Doesn't say on t.w Quote

Super User WRB Posted December 17, 2016 Super User Posted December 17, 2016 30 years ago Smithwick came out with the rattling Rogue lure that suspended and that is what separates this lure from Floating minnow lures. The Rogue in clown and chrome/blue colors became what we now call jerk baits. Tom Quote

When I was a boy the neighbor taught me to twitch them on top. Discovered later that a slow twitching retrieve to keep the lure dancing underwater usually out-fishes the topwater presentation. Quote
