I don't see why not. I have a pair of Eye Surrender Sunglasses that I like, but if I was going to pay that much for a pair I'd probably get a pair of Costa's.

I highly recommend Costa 580G lenses, silver and green are the most popular lens colors but I prefer silver

Those would do the trick. I would recommend not going with the black irridium lenses. They are nice in the bright sun of the summer, but it's hard to wear them in low light conditions. I would say the most important aspect of a pair of sunglasses is that they are used all the time on the water. The last thing you want is a 1/2 oz jig flying back at your exposed eye. The secondary benefit is that it cuts the glare off of the water.

Yes, they would, but Id recommend getting some replacement lenses that are for different light conditions. And also Id find some at a sunglass hut or another one of those mall kiosks, and try them on, see if the center piece blocks your field of view, or the sides hinder peripheral vision, etc.

24 years ago I bought a pair of H30's that were less than $100, and I still have. They came with 3 different lenses for different conditions, all in a neat clear plastic box. I wear them whenever im fishing on my tracker and they have never failed me. I also have a few cheapo, strike kings for my truck, and extra's on the boats. if they are lost or broken,.. no biggie, they were like 12 bucks

Costa's? yeah they are great, but any glasses can be broken, or lost. and costa's are a bit pricey in my opinion.

Oakley's? again same as costa's to me.

But this is what you want/need, you get what fit's your bill. Im just leery about buying online, as its not in my hands to check out whether it works for me or not

For that price, definitely get some Costa's.

Personally, I refuse to support any of the subsidiary companies of Luxottica. So, you couldn't pay me to wear Oakleys.

I've always worn Costas for my saltwater stuff and they work just as well for freshwater stuff. See what you can find from them or Maui Jim. Both manufacture quality products. You can also read what they have to say regarding lens color/tint and mirror colors so you know what you'll need for what you do on the water.

As others have said, gets some costas. You are not too far away as far as price and they are a much better product.

I used a pair of oakleys for about a year, when my friend let me try his 580g's. I ordered a pair of my own the next day. They really are that much better.

Oakleys- frames don't break under normal use, most of the lenses offer you great protection and great clarity- think of a heavy piece of lead with a hook flying towards your eye.

My opinions might be a little biased because I think of quality sunglasses ranked by the following categories and in this order: safety, clarity, comfort. I'm not saying go Oakley, but at least ask the Costa guys why they are better, because I haven't seen anything definitive yet.

Here is a impact test comparing Oakley's and some other high end glasses. I'm not saying the video isn't biased or is 100 % accurate, but it shows you the difference between ballistic and non-ballistic lenses.

When you're looking at sunglasses you need to remember fitment is huge as to how they perform. You have to be careful buying online if you haven't tried on that particular style, I'd see if you could find them in a store first to try on and make sure there're aren't big gaps between the frames and your face that will let light in on the back side of the lens. Personally I really like my Costa's with the 580G lenses. They have incredible clarity, are very comfortable to wear and they perform very well.

I had never even heard of Luxottica before, but after looking into it a bit I came across a 60 minutes piece on them and wow! I no longer want to associate with them either not that there's that much choice :/

Costa and Maui Jim's are both great choices and avoids Luxottica if you want.

I had eye surgery a few years ago and since then I am much more conscientious about eye protection. I had always read about how great the Costa 580G's were and for a long time I was considering buying a pair, but deep down I just couldn't get past the "glass in front of eye = not good" idea.

I am pretty sure that most, if not all bass fisherman have had lures fly back at them on missed hooksets, snags or what have you. And after reading about the disastrous event that happened to Mr. Larson (MLF Cameraman) I just can't help but think how much of a bad idea glass lenses would be.

No disrespect for those wearing and recommending them but is not a concern for you? Just trying to understand.

They do make a 580P lens as well if that's your concern. I wear the 580G's and understand the concern, but we fly around in bass boats that don't have breaks, in water with many subsurface unseen obstructions. We drive to the lake on road that we share with drunks, texting teens, and other distracted drivers. We stop at gas stations that could be held up by armed robbers at any second.  The point I'm trying to make is there are risk in a lot of things we do on a daily basis and we don't give a second thought to. When it comes to getting a direct hit in the lens with a weight on a hookset, that's a pretty freakish accident. If it wasn't we would hear about it happening more with all the glass lenses, and it wouldn't be a breaking story when it happened. You also have to remember the guy that got hit was filming. He's watching what is happening through a view finder and when you do that, it has a tendency to take away from your sense of awareness of what's happening around you.

If you tried to plan for every freakish accident from ever happening, you'd probably end up living in an empty box with rounded corners and never venture out into the outside world. It's a dangerous place out there but we all pick what risks we're ok with taking. Personally I'm ok with taking the risk of using glass.

Add me to the Costas list.  I've had Costas for about five years now and loved every minute of it.  I've had Wileys, Ray Bans, and Maui Jims and my Costas are the best I've owned so far.  I just recently sent in my Costa Tags (tortoise frames with 580G lenses) to be repaired because the rubber was beginning to come off the frames.  They cant fix them because they are discontinued, so they are sending me a BRAND NEW PAIR of similar glasses of my choice (Tuna Alley's with tortoise/580G).  It's costing me $11.95 total.  I'll take that customer service any day! I'm a Costa Guy for life now!

Be aware that Costa's come in different frame sizes. Medium, Large and Extra Large I believe. Find a pair that fits you in a store and look up what size they are.

I wear Wiley X glasses.

Here are a few points on them:

Good Polarization

All frames and lenses are impact rated (some are even ballistic rated)

The company was founded by US Military Vets

Most polarized versions of their glasses are around $125
