Turkey sandwich Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Flowing water is an option, but do be careful. What would be an easy wade or paddle in the summer can be a lot more dangerous come freezing temperatures and cold water. @everythingthatswims is spot on. Look for streams. Focus on tail waters below a dam and protected areas with little current either in deeper water or near deeper water and fish slow. This time of year, dead sticked soft plastic/(preferably) pork, hair jigs, float and fly nymph rigs, and blade baits can catch fish. They will be lethargic, but if you find where they're stacked up in the cold water, odds are good that you'll have opportunities to catch decent numbers Quote

The bass fishing is on fire now since the bass are in pre spawn/spawn mode. Its only going to get better the next couple months. It's going to be in the low 80's this weekend, so you can fish in shorts if you wanted to. 1 Quote

Blackhawk83 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Fortunately, we have two different power plant lakes within one hour drive from my home in Mt Pleasant, TX. Water temps there rarely drop below 70 degrees. Still have to try and keep ice out of the line guide eyes but fishing is great Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 16, 2017 Super User Posted January 16, 2017 Sorry to have to tell you that sometimes you can't fish when it is cold outside. You stay inside and reorganize your tackle and practice your flipping and flipping in the garage. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 16, 2017 Super User Posted January 16, 2017 If I get the itch real bad and the temps can be tolerated , I go below a dam . I can usually catch something . Quote
