As some of you know,I live on a small lake in Jax. FL. I was thinking about having a small, friendly tournament here.I have organized and run a tournament before but Id like to get some input from y'all . Not talking about big boats.I already have 2 yaks, a bass hunter, and Jon boat that can be used.

It would also give bass resource members in the area a chance to get together .

I'd probably limit it to 5-6 boats due to the fact that the lake's only 16 acres.

If anyone's interested let me know, and feedback is appreciated in advance.

I'm just curious if you got your PB in this lake ? If not.. do you know the biggest taken from it ?

Sounds like fun. I'd be in for sure. Too bad I'm like 1000 miles away lol

I did- by the measurement method it was around 9 pounds. The confirmed lake record is 13 1/2. Unconfirmed record is 14.

Man I love lakes like those. Not so vast that you don't know where to start (I've yet to buy any electronics) and it's because I mostly fish small lakes and large ponds.. the biggest lake I fished last year was under 350 acres.  Small lakes are fun ! And can still grow seriously big fish ! I caught a 24" out of my neighbors 3acre pond this year.. so.. who knows what your 16acre lake holds.. in Florida !!!!

Any catfish ?

Yeah I used to fish big lakes when I had my bass boat.Just takes more time. There are some lakes about an hour's drive from me that are great but the last 10 years or so has been hard for me to have enough time to travel much.So I fish my lake a lot.

As for catfish I got a 22 pound channel here . I don't have any( many )? big cats anymore due to an otter .But I've got plenty of nice eating sized ones again now.

That's horrible... I dont know much about otters really.. youd think they'd target medium to small ones... but 22 pounds is a nice channel cat! Does this mean the otter is putting a dent in the bass too ? Can't your Florida wildlife program come tranquilize it and relocate it.

Although I'd recommend something different if it was your private pond.

Im sorry I'm just rambling on your thread. I hope you get some folks together for a little tournament.

Otters are gluttons and they kill for the fun of it,eat a couple mouthfuls, and move on to the next fish.So he cleaned out my lake. But he quit coming after a few winters. So the fry have now grown up.

They don't seem to bother the bass population.Bass are too quick for them.

I could of shot it but my wife came out and hollered!!.

Don't worry about the rambling. Its entertaining until someone gets around to responding to the tournament.
