GABassHunter Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Hey folks! I am thinking of getting a bass hunter or uncle buck 10' boat and wonder if any of you have one and how you get it in and out of the water if you go fishing by yourself? I have a tundra so getting to the lake isn't an issue. Also I would want trolling motors bow and stern and do I need 2 batteries for all day fishing or will 1 work and do you keep the second battery up front? Thanks! Quote
Nick B Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I had a bass hunter when I lived in South Ga. It was great. I could get into lots of small places. I put the battery in the center of the boat. I only had one TM. It seemed fine with one battery. Where in Ga are you? Quote
Mo_Tick Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 one battery should be fine. those little things are great i think for smaller waters. i had one and drug it to where i needed it. good and stable also. good luck! Quote
Super User cart7t Posted May 12, 2006 Super User Posted May 12, 2006 BPS sells a small wheelie cart for moving those things from the truck to the lake. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted May 13, 2006 Super User Posted May 13, 2006 How much cash are you looking to spend? Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 In my opinion, I would get a jon boat instead. Lighter, same price, much more versatile and will last 10x longer. Literally. Buy used! Good luck. Quote
Ben Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I'm with LBH. Get a 12' - 14' jon. If your hauling in the back of a truck a 12', if you can get a trailer a 1436 makes a very nice boat and gives you plenty of room. I've never liked a jon smaller than 12' and don't lke those little skinny jons. A 12/14' jon will go anywhere you could want to, and putting one on a trailer makes life a whole lot esier. They are so light and on a small trailer, you can have the TM, battery and gear in it, back it in almost any hole in a pond and pull it back out again without having to haul all that junk from the truck to the boat and back again. A 30 lb TM will push either one around a pound or small lake very nicely, and do it most of the day if you don't get over about half thrust. Bigger lakes where the winds can get to you, go a lot bigger on motor and use two batteries. Quote
huntingrdr Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 I have a 9ft. mini bass boat. I love mine. IT is a comfortable but small boat. I can get into the small places where the big boys dont go and catch some fish. I just drag mine on the grass to my truck. Not too heavy, I might think about getting one of those Cableas carts for my boat. Looks like it would be alot easier. Thanks Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted May 22, 2006 Super User Posted May 22, 2006 I have the 8' Pelican Bass raider, great boat for 1 person, for 2 people it's a joke. I can fish any where I want with it. It's very stable, I can stand in it and fish. I take it out on small 1 acre ponds and big 1000 acre lakes, just don't be stupid with it out on a big lake. It won't set any speed records but with a 30lb thrust Minn Kota I can run all day on my battery. I usually have enough room for 4-5 combos, 2 tackle bags, me, the battery, motor, seat, fish finder, and a small cooler. I have fished in some windy conditons with it and it's stable BUT light so the wind blows you around alot. I can be on the water and fishing in 1/2 the time most any one else is, but I can't run all they way to the other end of the lake very fast. One thing that is a must with these boats is a push pole, it really helps getting it under way mush easier, and a length or rope. I just motor up to the shore, jump out with the rope in one hand and pull it out of the water. Get the prewired one, with me in the front with the motor, the battery and gear balance it out well in the back. Quote
KansasBassin Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 I have a 9 foot bassmagnum, have had it for four years, and love it. It is prewired and I keep the trolling motor in front of the boat, and the battery in back. Can fish with one or two people, and can get in most places others don't dare to go. There is a lake out here by my house called Kill Creek. The whole lake is upright trees, mainly cedar. The big boats can't even think about getting in those trees, I can and it usually really pays off. I also have a 16 foot semi V, that I use for bigger waters. But truthfully I like te smaller boat better just because I can use it by myself. I can throw it in and out of te pick up with no problems. Just remember to take te battery out before you try and lift it..... Quote
huntingrdr Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 This boat is the same as my boat. I love my boat because I can get into hard to reach places and catch fish. MY boat has a livewell with an aerator,a battery box and plugs for trolling motor and lights on the front and rear. These boats are very stable to and great for 1 person. Let us know what you end up getting! Quote

I was out there last Friday and there seemed to be a LOT of moss in those trees. I didn't make it over to really fish them effectively mainly because the topwater bite was pretty good over between the boat ramp and the fishing dock. I was in a pontoon kickboat and had a bass explode on some baitfish right at my feet, suprised me so much I nearly fell off my boat. . I am going to try to go back out this week and fish a frog or something in those trees over the top of the moss and hopefully catch up with a couple of big ones. Quote

Went out there saturday...couldn't get the frog bite going though. The topwater was on though just like you said...we caught a bunch of topwater bass until 7:30 and it was off...we went straight into the the trees though. We didn't stay on the bare banks. The jig and smally beaver bite was on also...two of us caught about 20 fish before 10am...we got out there at sun up, first ones on the water. Quote
