Greetings! I have been reading Bass Resource articles for years, but had no idea there was a sister forum. I am an avid bass angler who primarily fishes finesse rigs and presentations. The last few years I have been buying NorthStar swim jigs, but have only really focused on fishing them this past calendar year. I've been fishing them on my St Croix Premier 7' M F casting rod pretty much exclusively. Fish 3/16 - 5/16 sizes with the standard Kalin's grubs, Rage menace grub and paddle tails mostly. I feel like the rod I'm using is adequate, but was wondering if there is a better option. Not a lot of really dense or nasty cover that I have to pull bass out of in the waters I'm currently fishing. Most of what I've read on-line just says to use the same rod I do for fishing spinnerbaits, but I don't really fish spinnerbaits, so that's kinda out. Thanks for your help!

No issues with the rod you are using.  I throw mine on a 6'7" M fast or a 7'0" MH fast depending on weight and target species.

I throw mine on a 7'1" MHF St Croix Mojo Bass casting rod and its branded as a jig and trailer rod.My guess is you should keep on doing what your doing.

Last year I bought an iRod Gen 2 stone cold swimjig/bladed jig rod, and I love it. At $150, the price is good. The rod is light, I increased my casting distance and hook-up ratio. Here is a link to check it out.

I liked it so much that I bought another to through my bladed jigs.

I agree, but if you want suggestions for a new rod specify your pricing point.

Here is an overview that might help:

Since the swim jigs you're throwing are so light, I'd stick with the M/F. If you decide to move up into the 3/8, 1/2, or 3/4 oz swim jigs, then you would probably want to step up to a MH/F instead of a medium.
