edit: Update - scroll down to see my progress

Saw this video recently showing a way to make a feathered treble in no time at all.

Has anyone tried this method before? I think I'm going to try it on the Lobina Ricos that I have coming. They didn't come with hooks so I ordered hooks but forgot to buy feathered ones, and I think they're over priced anyways so I want to try to make them myself using this method and see how it works. I'll update this thread in about a week when I get back home to Texas where my Ricos will be waiting on me.

Seems like an interesting project to work on, hope that they turn out well for you.

I personally use dressed trebles on my X-Raps and they are made and sold separately by VMC.  I've always found them to be sturdy and economical as well, which is why I stock up on them in bulk.

Cheers, would love to see your results once you're done.

Okay so I've now tried both the traditional method of tying feathered trebles and this quick shrink tube method.

The shrink tube method is not very good in my opinion, but it is a very smart idea for a quick on the water solution. Which is exactly what Matt said in the video that I linked above.

I've been having a lot of fun the last couple days in my free time messing with feathered trebles. I really like how I can tie my own stuff onto whatever hook and whatever size that I need without spending much money at all. It's also just fun to do.

Here are my first attempts:

This one has marabou and feathers and a touch of flash

Here's a close up of a hook that I wrapped for my Slammer to cover up those massive hooks (2/0 owner) and possibly simulate blood. A little marabou mixed with feathers, no flash on these.

Here are the 2/0s on the Slammer attached with #7 hyper wire split rings (it was a pain to get the rings onto the beefy hardware)

Now I need to perfect my wrapping and clean it up a bit, but I'm happy with how it's turned out so far.

Also I am tying the material pretty long at times, so I need to do some testing to make sure it isn't so long that it impedes the action of the lures.
