I'm happy with the turnout, I thought I was going to catch one fish today. Also I knew it was going to rain and luckily it's didn't pour until I got home. Did you go out? Any luck? 1 Quote

Although you had a slow day, you still managed to catch a few. Well done. Quote

A little while ago I came across the Navionics app. Since I don't have a gps chart plotter on my boat, this app is the next best thing. You can plot your course, set way points, etc all through your smart phone, or tablet. I fished Istopoga a few months ago and although its not a tricky lake to navigate on, I utilized the lake to practice with the app, and it was spot on. I scout lakes or locations I want to check out ahead of time and program the spots on the app, when I get to the ramp, I load the app, look for my first waypoint, click on it and the program sets my course. Easy to use and its a valuable tool if you don't have a chartplotter on your boat. Imho. 2 Quote

Super User BassinLou Posted December 13, 2016 Super User Posted December 13, 2016 JE, your welcome, this can be a game changer for you. Especially since you are on a Gheenoe. That thing can get into some really..really.. skinny water. High water will never be an issue for you with that nice rig. Good luck!! 1 Quote

When you get into thick vegetation do you just use trolling motor or motor. Ran into problems at lox rd boat ramp with vegetation constantly getting wrapped around motor and with poling platform and bench can't get back there to clean weeds . I got a couple ideas but being a googan to boats any help is nice Quote

I have a chart plotter but saving my pennies to buy the chip so I will use the app in the meantime. 1 hour ago, Jonathan Ellingwood said: I actually just fished the lake around my house . I just got my first new boat Gheenoe lt25 and wouldn't mind following and exploring Yeah! But I want to follow someone familiar so I can track it then I'm set. I don't like breaking anything on the boat and I bet you can understand. Also not in the middle of the glades. But definitely would like going out. PM me with you info and I will contact you next time I'm heading out. 1 hour ago, Jonathan Ellingwood said: When you get into thick vegetation do you just use trolling motor or motor. It will fill up with weeds but just pick it up and pull them off. If you want to cover water use the motor just get on plane and go fast. The weeds won't get caught up in the motor. I recommend trimming the motor up all the way when using the trolling motor but you said you can't do that. I saw a vid when Ike uses a collapsible broom to clean the motor of when going through grass. I would recommend that. You will get a hang of it. Good luck Quote
