ball_coach_1 Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Curious if any of you guys have seen/used/purchased a three blade prop by Kipawa? A friend of mine that works at a Bass Pro Shops had a seminar that they were raving about this prop, supposedly great in working through weeds, but what interested me is that they supposedly give an equivalent of 5 more pounds of thrust. Skwerl Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 OEM props have a very low pitch. They aren't designed to move the boat very fast, they are designed to be quiet. It's very easy to add a little bit of pitch and get more speed. As for me, I wish my troller had a slower speed sometimes. Quote
scbassin Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 I have one & used it on a 74# thrust Minn Kota hand operated t/m. It improved my performance a lot. I could run my t/m at lower speeds with better results. It worked excellent in the weeds also. Then I read on another forum That someone was having a problem with vibration with their's. I thought that I had felt some too so I switched back. The more I think about it I thinking it could have been caused by the weeds. I am going to put it back on when I go to the lake this week & run it thru it's paces again. I hope I am wrong about the vibration because that was a great improvement over the stock prop. Quote
lowe160 Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Iused the Kipawa for 1-1/2 years on my 50AT and will be ordering one for the Maxxum 70 I have now. The are quiet and really make salad out of the weeds. Regards; Wayne Quote
Travlin_Man Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 www.kipawapropellers.com I've been using one for about 1 1/2 yrs. and no way I'm going back to a stock prop. Quote
cedar1 Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Hey Ball-Coach, you just spent 10 hrs on a boat Sunday that has that prop. MINE!! You never mentioned it. I put it on at the end of last year and I dont like it. Vibrates like hell and sucks in the weeds. I'll have it off before our next tournament Quote
Team_Dougherty Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I have one, fortunately it fits both of my trolling motors, when I use in on my 16' V bottom's bow motor it is a lot quieter and less vibration than the stock prop. I can not detect any increase in speed with it. When I switch it to my 12' V bottom's transom mount motor, I use it on an electric motor only lake, it is a lot quieter and less vibration than the stock prop and I also notice an increase in acceleration and top end speed. I am not sure if it is imagined or real. Some day I will use my gps for further testing. The last time I was out the weather was not conducive for changing props out on the water. Plus the fish were biting who wants to test props at that time anyway. Paul Quote
