I've been trying to buy a friend of mine a reel as a christmas present and am getting nowhere! I live in the Uk and he's in the US. I have done it before with no problems, make an order, my address is the billing and his address is the shipping, but this year it's been difficult! I've tried Tackle warehouse, Cabelas, Bass Pro, Monster and Susquehanna without success. Does anyone run a tackle shop who would provide this service or know one that would?

Go on Amazon and order it from one of the tackle suppliers there.  Have any of these tackle suppliers give you a reason why they would not do it. I can not  understand them having a problem, especially if you are purchasing with a credit card.

If you have a paypal account than any supplier on Amazon should be happy to take your money.

Goodness know what the problem is, but neither paypal or credit cards would make the transaction work for them. I got a paypal refund within about half an hour from TW, sent them an email to ask why and they said they couldn't do it! Amazon is a great idea, I never think of them for some reason. I'll give it a go, thank you!

Makes sense since they ship round the world everyday.  Billing around the world should be easy. Glad it worked.

Some online security systems automatically reject a sale when the billing address and shipping addres are not the same.

I guess that must be the case. TW used to be virtually impossible to order from if you were outside the US, you had to send them all sorts of information before they'd accept an order. They're better now, but I was surprised they didn't send an email explaining the issue, rather than just refunding the money and leaving it unexplained.

I think amazon and ebay are the easiest place to do this kind of transaction. A friend of mine in thailand orders stuffs all the time thru both of them and have them ship to my address in ca.

I had the same issue with TW during the Black Friday sale. I live in Canada and I wanted to order $55 worth of baits and send them to my friends in Oklahoma. As I am going to go visit them in April/May, I thought I would save on shipping ($22 to ship to me) and just bring the stuff back with me. Order was cancelled and they sent an email saying if I had any questions to please call. I called and they said it was due to fraud and that they would only ship direct to me as billing and shipping would match. My first reaction was that if it was fraud then sending the order to me would make you lose more money but I am guessing that if billing and shipping matches they have some protection.

There are some US retailers that just don't bother. Academy for example will not accept a credit card issued outside the US. They claim too many issues with Fraud. Dick's will accept the card but won't ship to Canada. Basspro and Cabela's have no issues.

Glad you were able to use Amazon and get what you needed.

What a coincidence, I'm a Nigerian prince. This place is becoming like the UN. Is Glenn really Kofi Annan?
