John McKindley Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I've been fishing since I was 5, mostly for trout, salmon, and whatever I could catch at the Des Moines WA marina. Recently, I've been fishing for Sea Run Cutthroat at the Puget Sound beach near my house (I live in south Seattle). Those guys fight like a ticked off drunken Irishman (no offense to the Irish). They seem much more aggressive than the stocked rainbows at my local lakes. But, I'm ready to learn the art of bass fishing. I have a fairly stiff G Loomis rod and I use braided line on all my spinning reels (I've yet to learn how to use a bait caster, I always get rat nests). I'd like to stick with flies mainly because I'm primarily a catch and release fisherman. If anyone out there knows of good bass fishing lakes in the greater Seattle area I'd be grateful for a heads up. Even better, if anyone out there wouldn't mind bringing a newby along to show me the tricks of catching monster bass, I'll buy the beer. Fishing is hands down my favorite thing to do. I'd go every day if I could. I own a nice float tube, and I'm guessing that many of my flies would work for bass. But, as I said, any advice will be much appreciated. I can be reached at jonnyflyfisher24@gmail.com, or 206-643-6245. Thanks. Quote
