Gillroid 9000 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 So when i go to Any Place thats sells fishing gear. The first thing i do is to take a Deep dive into the Bargain bins. Lately i disnt get really good finds in Bins but in the past i managed to find the "Needle in the Haystack." Once found Berkley Gulp minnows for 2$, Arashi squarebill for 4.50$, Jackall Clone Fries for 7$, Shadow Raps for 5-6$. So anyone one here ever found something good from Bargain bin Diving? Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 My Gander Mt used to have some great stuff in their BB, but lately nothing but stray hooks and Matzuo cr@p. Quote
KDW96 Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I brought home 10 6pack of #8 Kvd short shanks for 2.00 a pack:) 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 Most big discount stores do not order thier own stuff, it's shipped from a regional warehouse. With fishing lures they are regional in popularity, if the store gets lures that don't sell they mark them down to get rid of inventory that doesn't move. There is a reason those lure are in the bin. Acerty Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Cabelas last year around this time I think actually. Found a brand new Abu Garcia Beast. 180 I think it was. 2 years ago, got a shimano curado 200Ge6 for 70 or 75 bucks new. My first baitcaster actually. Quote
Jaderose Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Found the most productive bait I've ever had in a bargain bin. Lou's Special Netbait BK Tubes. Now I'm struggling to find more 1 Quote
wdp Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 The Bass Pro in Nashville, TN flooded about 6-7 yrs ago. A lot of merchandise had gotten wet, but not damaged. Some of the boxes & packages had a few dried water spots & marks, but other than that, the stuff was fine. A big portion of that stuff was sent to a Wall's second hand store (popular in the South) in Grenada, MS where my inlaws live. They had everything marked at least half off. EVERYTHING! I loaded up on a ton of Zoom soft plastics & SK hard baits, mostly red eye shads, and some Rapala hard baits too. Wish I'd found out about it sooner. Apparently they had a bunch of Shimano Citicas & Curados, but they were gone by the time I got to the store. There were only a few Lew's spinning reels left, so I picked up one of them. 1 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 I like to hit the bargain bins at Mills fleet farms, I have found some really good baits at super cheap prices. Not sure why some of the stuff is being cleared out, but I am not going to complain. Cabelas can be good too with random markdowns. Last time there I got 5 bags of cabin creek smoke purple tubes for .88 cents. The bummer is they only mark down one color and the finds are randomly placed, you really have to look. Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 The best bargain bin deals are at fishing expos. I got 2 packs of jackall clone gills (retail 12.99) for 4 bucks a pack, it might have been less than that! Quote
BareHook Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Tungsten weights, 3 pack 1/4 and 2 pack 3/8 oz for $1.00 each Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 Hit the local Wal-Mart's bargain bin a few years back in the fall. They were liquidating all the 6 pack Mustad KVD Elite Trebles for like $2 ! Left with every size 2,4,& 6 they had. SCORE ! It was the Only thing I bought that day and the young "Human" (and that term is being used very loosely here) at the check out didn't seem to share my idea of the bargain value of this purchase. I've checked it again every chance I get but have never purchase one thing from it since. A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 I, too, have scored at Walmart's bargain bin. Strike King tour grade tungsten bullet weights. I think they were between $2-3 for a pack of 4 when they normally go for $7.99 @ Bass Pro. Also bought several packs Daiichi and Gamakatsu hooks on the cheap. 3 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 I've scored a lot of bargains over the years. Walmarts for a few years had some deep discounts at the end of the season. I scored a few packs of the tungsten weights @Darren. was talking about. I also scored on some Mustad trebles. I also got some of the higher end Plano trays for like $3 instead of $12. Gander usually is a turn and burn type store. I've got my fair share of Rapala hard baits for $4-5. Spro Crankbaits for $6. I bought bunches of Xcalibur squarebills for $3.50-$4 there when they were $7-8 retail. They like to hide their clearance stuff on the back end of isles in between the isle and the wall. 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 I could definitely do a few of those Plano boxes at a deep deep discount . . . A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 I'm a bargain bin diver . I'd say my best find were green Gammy octopus hooks . I think they were .50 cents a pack . Those are a critical component in my carp rigs . 1 Quote

Bargain bins lost some of their appeal when i reached near "critical mass" and I don't have room to carry everything anymore (my pack elephant died). In the past, i would buy almost anything (brand name) if it was more than 50 percent off. Now I'm much more discriminating. It wasn't in a "bin" but when the local Field & Stream had clearanced some of their Shadow Raps and then further made them, "buy 5, get 5 free", I could NOT resist-even though I may be 95 before I get to use some of them (note: I already had about 10 of them). 1 Quote

Yes Sir - and in all honesty, I would be slightly embarrassed to tell a non-bass angler just how many completely stacked full 3700 box are stashed away in the Lund right now. Most True Bass fishing humans however would be serious less impressed. But I do need a few more . . .& probably always will. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 I found a jackal Giron in a bargain bin once for like 10 dollars off. And at Cabelas I've found some amazing deals on Lucky Craft stuff (like 5 bucks a pop for some lipless cranks and smaller pointers) Quote
jr231 Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 My Walmart had a bunch of zoom super flukes for 99 cents. I've been using those packs for a few seasons now. And have managed some decent bass on them ! Gotta love that made in the USA sticker too. 3 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 The local tackle shop has a markdown section where I find a few good deals here and there, like a Megabass I-Slide 135 for $30 or soft plastics at almost half off. Most of my damage though is done at store closings. When Sports Authority got rid of their fishing departments a few years back they had stuff marked down 50-75% and I got bagfuls of Gulp, spinners, Rapalas, fluorocarbon, and reels. When Sports Chalet closed down they also had sliding markdowns where I got stuff from 40-90% off. An awesome mom and pop tackle shop (Ly's Fishing Goods) sadly closed down and had a 50% off sale, and another local outdoor shop (Mel Cotton's) is in the process of closing down and also has everything at 50% off. Sucks to see all of these stores closing down though. Quote
RyneB Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 brand new in package S waver for $1. a local guy was on a pro staff and had back surgery and sold all of his stuff out of his garage. bins and bins of tackle. 50 pack of tubes for $1 as well. 1 Quote

I grabbed a few packs of those tungsten weights when Wally World marked em down. 1 Quote
budgetbassin Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I like to pick up the $1.96 Cotton Cordell lipless crankbaits in the bargain bin at WalMart. You can find some interesting colors too. Quote
