FrankN209 Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Any tips on fishing the delta this time of the year in Stockton? I usually go to Whiskey Slu. Mid to high 50's and lows in the 30's. Quote
Caliyak Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Ish Monroe did a YouTube on winter delta fishing. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted December 7, 2016 Super User Posted December 7, 2016 jerkbait, jig, lippless baits and squarebills on sunny rock banks. Senko's and dropshot. Local club fished up there a few weeks ago and the winning fish came off of a jig, but had friends that had a good crankbait bite just couldn't run due to heavy fog. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 8, 2016 Super User Posted December 8, 2016 Contact Andy Cooch Cuccia, wealth of information on the Delta. Tom 2 Quote

Super User burrows Posted January 28, 2017 Super User Posted January 28, 2017 I do believe he fished a few shows on the delta with nick the IF. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted January 28, 2017 Super User Posted January 28, 2017 FrankN209, right now the Delta is fishing REALLY tough with all the runoff pushing more water into the system. Water is stained with temps predominately in the high 40's with very few areas making it to 50 degrees in the afternoon. There is more rain in the forecast starting Wednesday (Feb 1), but the big girls gotta eat sometime in preparation for the spawn. And when that happens, a jig is probably gonna get you the bigger bites. 3 Quote

blckshirt98 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Reading Cooch/TNT Baits' FB pages he's been testing some new jig colors and instead of the Delta he's been driving up to Lake Camanche, so just confirming what J Bricker said about the Delta being tough right now. 1 Quote

Yes, I just went to the delta saturday. The water is very murky. Didn't get anything either.. Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 21, 2017 Super User Posted February 21, 2017 The current conditions on the Delta is getting ugly due to debris from the rivers flooding up stream, high water everywhere! Tom Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted February 21, 2017 Super User Posted February 21, 2017 I was out last week before this last system moved through. The difference between high and low tides seemed to be about a foot of water and you could see over the levees without a problem. I did see some fish up shallow, but I'm sure they have pulled back off the bank by now. Hopefully things will stabilize soon, but more rain is expected next Saturday and Sunday. 1 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 FYI, parts of the southern Delta were closed to boating in the past week - http://www.westernbass.com/forum/new-delta-closures-t107226.html Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted March 19, 2017 Super User Posted March 19, 2017 FrankN209, things have kinda stabilized in the Delta, so I hope you've had a chance to get out on the water. Bags of 20-32+ pounds have been caught as the big girls are moving up. Hopefully the predicted rain early this week won't change things too much. Good luck, JB 1 Quote

No luck. I tried everything from texas rigged speed worm, chatterbait, squarebill, spinnerbait, jig, nothing was working for me. But fishing from the bank hinders me greatly.. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Cooch just posted over the weekend, he's catching some tanks in the Delta right now, he says the females are in the deep grass (that might be tough to reach from the shore) - https://www.facebook.com/pg/Coochs-Fishing-100487170079719/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1167454990049593 1 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted March 20, 2017 Super User Posted March 20, 2017 My blade fish this past Saturday, and had another about the same size come unbuttoned at the boat. Regarding my previous post, the winning team in Dan's Delta Outdoors out of Big Break had 5 fish for 32.58lbs. Big fish was 11.32lbs pig! So gotta stay optimistic regarding this weeks weather..... 1 Quote
