Big-Bass Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 How much does a typical 1/15oz. Z-Man mushroom head with either a TRD or ZinkerZ (cut in half) typically weigh once they are turned into the Ned Rig? I rarely use anything heavier than the 1/15oz. and wondered what the finished product actually weighed when casting on my medium light rod. Just curious and thank you! Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted December 5, 2016 Super User Posted December 5, 2016 Looks like a little over 3/16oz. I will do a half zlinker in a bit. I have actually been meaning to make a thread for people to post the actual weights of common plastics and lures but have thus far been too lazy to write an OP. I bought a little scale when I was getting into BFS and it was surprising how many lures weighed more than I had thought they did. 6 Quote

We have one that sort of went dormant but here add on to it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/151713-bait-weights-i-got-bored-one-night/?page=2 Quote

I use 1/20 TRD on 8' ML/M Avid rod and 8# nanofil the little bait really slings out there a ways. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted December 6, 2016 Super User Posted December 6, 2016 Oh, you know what, that jig I weighed is a 1/20 one. I remembered that i buy the lightest ones, but forgot they do one at 1/20. I will try and dig up one of the 1/15oz ones to weigh, but I don't think it will be a huge difference. In any case, here are some more MWF plastic weights: Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 6, 2016 Super User Posted December 6, 2016 They're heavier than most people realize. Been saying that for some time now. http://imageshack.com/a/img924/6338/iU1LaN.jpg Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted December 6, 2016 Super User Posted December 6, 2016 Yea, I was inspired by your scale pictures to get one. Before I got too deep in the BFS madness I wanted to see what the actual weights of small baits were and was really surprised how far off even stuff like inliner spinners were. A half zlinker will really lose a lot of weight when the salt washes out, but then it becomes so saturated with water then it evens out after the first few casts I suspect. 1 Quote
