Super User *Hootie Posted December 4, 2016 Super User Posted December 4, 2016 Ever drive down a street looking for an address, and you turn your radio down so you can see better? Hootie 8 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 4, 2016 Super User Posted December 4, 2016 No, I don't do that one. But will usually remove my ball cap to drop a heater. A-Jay 2 Quote

Super User Oregon Native Posted December 5, 2016 Super User Posted December 5, 2016 Actually for me I just like the peace and quiet and I can concentrate better. 2 Quote
Ohio Archer Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Yes, the radio can be distracting. We are taught, and teach, in Archery that the human mind can only concentrate on one thing at a time (and there are a lot of things to do to send a pointy stick into the middle of the bullseye). Concentrate on one thing and you're better off. When I get back home and start to back my boat trailer up into our driveway, the seat belt comes off, the windows come down (no matter how cold it is) and the radio gets turned down/off. That's just the way it is... 3 Quote
RAMBLER Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Yes, and when I get into a larger town/city, the radio gets turned off. 1 Quote
dave Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 I went through a commercial driving safety seminar. There is something scientific regarding listening and attentiveness. Even talking on a phone with a blue tooth, decreases your attentiveness way more than you think it does. 2 Quote

Super User *Hootie Posted December 5, 2016 Author Super User Posted December 5, 2016 Kind of saddens me to think, all these years I've been wearing glasses, when all I needed to do was turn down the volume. Hootie 3 Quote
Red Bear Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 i too am guilty of turning the radio down when looking for an unfamiliar place and know that im close to it, it just seems like a natural reaction... 2 hours ago, dave said: I went through a commercial driving safety seminar. I find and feel that im more distracted talking over the blue tooth in my car than i am if i just hold the phone up to my ear the old fashioned way... 1 Quote
