I was fishing today and didn't catch any bass until I tried a shakey head. I was just dragging it really slow and letting it sit. They were really light bites as if they were just picking it up and sitting there with it. The water temp. was 45 and the bait was a Zman hula Stix in the deal color.  This is the first time I tried a shakey head this cold. They wouldn't hit blade baits or jerkbaits. Any one else try a shakey head in the winter?

Yea, never in lakes though. I have used them in ponds with trickworms and small craws and they have produced during cold months.

I think it was more the Hula Stix than the head but you was working it right. When you think you are working it slow, slow down some more. Any of the Ned type baits will work year round.

I caught a dink on a Zman Ned jig 1/10th and a TRD yesterday.  4th fish I've caught all year.  lol

The coldest bass I've ever caught came on a shakey head.

Water was 44.  Water freezes at 43 in Oklahoma.

Image result for not sure if serious

I caught fish on Grand in 38 degree water on a shakyhead, and I wasn't ice fishing

Shakyhead is one of my go to baits in winter. It turns into more of a dragging presentation than a shaking or hopping. Everything that lives in the water slows way down when it gets cold, so I adjust my retrieve accordingly.
