Thinking about buying a new 65 lb. thrust MinnKota All-Terrain...bow mount.

For me, the price is right, if it is quality....compared to paying 700 or 800 dollars for a new motor.

Anyone have, or have a buddy that has, this trolling motor?

Like some feedback before I spend the cash.

Thanks.

I own a MinnKota 65 lb thrust trollling motor and I love it.  They are good quality for the money.

I just bought a Minn Kota Maxum 55lb, 12 volt motor for my 16ft. Aluminum Boat. It has plenty of Thrust, and Knock on wood, I have not had a single issue with it. I have used it 7-10 times so far this Spring. I LOVE A TROLLING MOTOR!!! I don't know how I ever fished without one.

Also, I had a Minn Kota MK230 put on the Boat also. It's very nice to just plug the boat in when I come back from a fishing trip instead of having to lug a Battery Charger around. Hope this helps.

I have that exact same trolling motor and could not be any happier with it. Mine is now a little over three years old and is on its second boat. The thing still looks new and operates flawlessly. I think the Minn Kota/Motorguide discussion is like the Ford/Chevy thing. Everybody has their own opinion. I've owned two Minn Kotas and two Motorguides. I'll be sticking with Minn Kota :)

When I went to the local Trolling Motor guy here in NH, I asked which trolling Motor he suggested. He said it was a personal decission, but he then brought me out back where all the boats were, and the broken motors were. I looked at the rack and counted 9 Motor Guides, and one very old Minn Kota. I asked him if this is how it usually goes, and he shook his head yes. But, he did say that Motor Guides are getting better as far as reliability, but Minn Kota is still Top Dawg.
