Jim72 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 I am looking to get a baitcasting rod for hollow body frogs in pads.i am considering the dobyns fury 735c but I was also wondering if this would also be ok to use with jigs 1/2 oz for bottom dragging.i own a 703c fury and I am very happy with that rod for spinnerbaits ,traps ,senkos small top water.i need a rod for a heavier application frogging pads ,and grass for jigs.i fish in the northeast so it's not like the heavy grass in say Florida but it gets choked up with weeds and grass in some ponds in the summer.thx Quote
Bassfishnc18 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 St croix mojo bass rods are mostly pretty heavy rods that would be good for that. For froggin I would want a 7'-7'3" rod with a good heavy backbone Quote
NYBasser Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Dobyns Fury 735c is the perfect rod for your application. Its has amazing balance, along with the fast tip that allows you to easily "walk" the frog on top. It also doubles as a great jig rod for 1/2 oz and up. I even use it to flip 3/4 oz weights into pads. I would definitely reccomend it. 1 Quote

Super User fishnkamp Posted December 4, 2016 Super User Posted December 4, 2016 Jim, I am curious, you said you fish in the Northeast. Are you close to Baltimore Md. We have a great dealer here in Md, just In case you were interested in putting one in your hand, Check out Anglers Express in Timonium (off RT 83) It is located minutes north of The Maryland State Fairgrounds. His selection is pretty good, Call first if he does not have one in stock, he will get one in. His prices are very good. He also has one of those well stocked shops with tackle brands that the big guys do not always carry. That means I usually get more than I should. The bait monkey hangs out there for sur! LOL. Quote

Super User Angry John Posted December 4, 2016 Super User Posted December 4, 2016 Don't know if it's in your price range but the mb perfect pitch would do all of that and be good for smaller swimbaits also. Quote
