Hi All,

I have always with artificial baits, but I would like to try some live bait panfish/bass action. My question is how do I rig the bobber, hook and weighs? Also what live bait do you recommend?

thanks,

Alex

I fish shiners on spinning tackle, a split shot rig, 1/8 - 1/4 oz weight, #6 Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hook, and #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. Cast on or near cover or structure. Allow the bait to fall to the bottom or at whatever dept you want to target, retrieve slow and steady. When fishing a circle, simply lift the rod when you detect a strike and reel. Do NOT set the hook.

Thanks!

I was thinking about using a floater, then a 12 inches line with a couple of slipshots and a hook at the end. How many inches should I run the line from the floater?

If I fish with live bait I fish with med. shiners for LM and minnows for Crappie. The shiners, I just use an octupus hook I forget what size, hook em in the back and let them free swim. For Crappie I'll usually use a medium size round plastic bobber on 6lb line with a split shot about 8 or 10 inches up from the hook.
